Interview with Philip Allan Turner

You write about love in your books, can you discuss your thoughts about love?
I believe that love never fails. I want to focus on discussing how to learn to love in a new God-conscious ways. God’s law of love is a principle that is meant to be spread by us, to others. Understanding God’s design for this world allows us to be His agents in this world. God is love and we are ‘of God’, His nature is inside of us. When we operate in a loving way each day, we are leaning into the light and draw abundance and positive energy into our lives.

“Walk in love …(Ephesians 5:2).” What does this mean? Have you ever thought about your daily walk, whether it’s in love. It’s the little details that show we have love in our hearts.

“Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ (2nd Thessalonians 3:5).” It seems like the definition of love in today’s world is dysfunctional. Many things we see or hear on TV and in the media often demonstrates dysfunctional types of love.

We have to retrain ourselves in how to love and the perfect model of real love is described by God in the Bible. We should strive to love with all of our heart, completely and in whole and healthy Godly ways. Many people keep little pockets of negativity in their hearts but we must learn to open those small dark areas in the back of our hearts to God and His love. The Bible offers good and God inspired examples of how to retrain ourselves in order to love in the right ways.

What is love?

Love is steadfast. Love is not an emotion, it’s a command from God. Love is not a feeling, because feelings come and go. Too often we let our feelings get in the way of our progress. Love is a perfect belief, ordered by God. Love is giving, and forgiving. Love is freely given without any expectation of return. Compassion is the emotion we feel when love moves through our hearts. Love does not do right for the wrong reasons. Love is about helping others. Love is ‘of God’ and of the light. Love has nothing to do with attraction because love transcends attraction. God loves us completely and commands us to love others in the same way, not just those who are lovable. Love doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. Love doesn’t care about the past, because love is pure. Love is an action. Love requires effort, and that effort puts us closer to God. (Inspired by 1 Corinthians 13).

Love is a commandment, not a choice if a person wants to be a follower of Christ. We must strive to learn how to love, using the template from God’s word as the framework. Unpack and discard all those old dysfunctional notions of love today.

In Colossians 3:2 we learn, “Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth.” Our love must come from God, and then we should spread it to others.

Jesus commands us “to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. And then our neighbor as ourselves.” What is left unsaid but which is vitally important is that we love ourselves first. Loving ourselves in healthy ways is important so that we can give love to others. So many people do not love themselves through and through; they live with guilt, condemnation, shame and other negative feelings from the past. Christ died on the cross so that we could have salvation and be redeemed through His blood. Christ has forgiven us; so forgive yourself and move on. When we allow those negative emotions or beliefs about ourselves to inhabit our heart, we limit the blessings in our lives.

A person without real love inside, can not give real love to others. We can’t give what we don’t have. This is why it’s so important to retrain ourselves to love as God has instructed us to love.

We should allow love to change us, make us new. The below section from Colossians 3:12-14 gives a perfect framework of love.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must do, but above all these things put on love, which is the bond of affection. And let the peace of God rule your hearts, which is the bond of perfection.”

Love allowed to deeply move inside our heart, allows inner peace to reign in that same place. We need to find ourselves through God and ask Him, “What is Your will for my life?’ God is love and His essence of perfect love is already inside our heart, spirit and soul.

Today, see yourself as God sees you, a being of light and love!
You talk a lot about being empowered and changing the way we think, tell us some more about these concepts?
You have the power! It’s your story, you can write it anyway you want. The purpose of this post is to stimulate you to discover the truth so that you can find your own meaning and purpose in life. It’s only through finding our individual purposes that we can gain true inner contentment.

Many people are still slaves to the incessant stream of non-sensical thoughts, compulsive thinking based on repetitive and pointless imaginary fears. Life is never as serious as your mind makes it out to be. Allowing our minds to wander aimlessly is one of the principle problems with human existence today. Most people believe that they have no choice but to allow those negative, self-defeating thoughts to continue and flourish. Individuals who can control and elevate their thoughts are the ones who are more productive because they are able to find balance and attain an inner peace. You can change your life, by changing the way you think.

Proverbs 23:7 say, “So as a man thinkest in his heart, so is he.” No truer words have been spoken. We are a sum of our thoughts. We can achieve greatness but we must believe that its possible. That belief happens in the mind. Our thoughts shape our destiny. We can all build the life we have dreamed of by watching, controlling and altering our thoughts. I call it mental housekeeping or tending to our own internal gardens.

We clean our homes but now its time to clean our minds. In focusing our thoughts, we need to look inward and stop being so outwardly focused. It does not matter what others think of you as long as you are striving to live a higher life; utilizing the principles of love, compassion, forgiveness and gratitude in your everyday life. If you plant these four principles in your mind each day then your destiny will follow in the same direction. Too many people fight the wrong battles in their mind.

I posit that we all have the power to change our reality. We must recognize what is going on inside with our thoughts before we can change them. Spot or notice what your thoughts are doing. After you spot what is going on. Assess what your mind is dwelling on. Good thoughts bear good fruit while bad thoughts yield bad fruit. Develop better thinking patterns. Reel in your errant thoughts and put those negative thoughts on a mental leash.

I am assuming that if you are reading this post then you love yourself and want to be your best self. We can all make the universe work for us but it starts with placing our thoughts on higher, purer things. We do not know all the mysteries of the universe. There is great creative power in mastering our thought life. Elevate your thoughts by not giving in to any negativity around you and watch abundance enter into your life!

Jim Rohn stated, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
What are you working on next?
My next book is called "Learning To Discern God’s Voice – 180 Day Devotional for Walking in the Spirit." My goal of writing this nearly 400 page daily devotional was to help himself to be more devoted to Christ Jesus, and hope it helps the reader in the same manner. These motivational/inspirational tips are meant to inspire and refresh the spirit. I want to motivate and inspire you to be all that God created you to be. I invite you to start a 180 day journey to walk in the Spirit in order to change your life for the better. Each daily study builds on the previous lesson. This work is different than your average daily devotional; it’s a study in how to discern God’s voice in your everyday life. I want to ignite that fire within you to live passionately for God!

We are God’s greatest masterpiece! “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).” The power is in us, we just have to stir up the gifts within us. The author wants everyone to understand the great love that God has for us.

We have all have the conditions for our own happiness right now. What God has taught the author:

–Failure is not final and God can use me even now to bring others to Christ.
–God provides for all our needs and when once our perspective changes, our needs changes.
–God taught him that a clean and merry heart can heal a multitude of diseases, even a dis-ease of the soul.
–The tests which comes in our lives, only makes us stronger.
–Change always comes but hope is eternal.
–No one is beyond redemption, even the hardest of hearts can be touched by the love of God.
–If we are intentional and purposeful, we can learn to discern the voice of God and walk in the Spirit each day.
–God is the Great Motivator and Inspirer, just lean on Him and watch Him go to work in your life!

I wrote this work to show others who are still in mental bondage that they can be free in spirit regardless of external circumstances. My life message is based on these three main points: Pray Big, Hope Big and Love Big!
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Wayne Dyer, Lisa Nichols, Ronda Byrne, Charles Stanley, Tony Robbins, Daphne Rose Kingma, James Allen, Andy Andrews, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, David Jeremiah, Marci Shimoff and Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, and T.D. Jakes to name a few. The bible is my favorite book of all though.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I often tell people to have God sized dreams. Have big, Godly dreams! Have a bigger dream for yourself each day. God wants us to constantly be rising in our lives. Nothing stagnant can prosper, we must grow and mature in all areas of our lives. God wants us to increase our knowledge of His will for our lives. God wants every facet of our lives to be prosperous but we need to get rid of small minded or limited thinking. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).”

Anticipate supernatural increase!

Expect God to do great things in your life. Imagine your future the way you want it. Jesus said in Luke 12:32, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s pleasure to give you the Kingdom.”

Conceive it!

God will make it happen but we must have the vision to see our dreams come to pass. Jesus said in Mathew 19:26, “…With men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”

Believe it!

Look through eyes of faith and not through what we see in this natural world. Believe that God will pour out His immeasurable favor on you.

Expect God’s blessings and favor!

Jesus said in Mark 9:23, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believe.”

God is constantly planting seeds in our lives so that we can grow into the people He wishes us to become, but it starts with maintaining steadfast faith. Don’t let the enemy steal your seeds, your dreams or your joy. God wants you to be filled with hope and love each day. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief (devil) does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Each day, God is trying to promote us and give us greater anointing but we must perceive it. Once we perceive God’s presence in our lives, then we must do our part. “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead (James 2:20)?”

God is trying to use us, to be His hands in this world. We must remain faithful and encouraged even when things may not appear in the natural to be going well. Where do you dream you will be in one year, five years or twenty years from now. Dreams must be nurtured and the seeds that God puts in our lives must be watered through effort on our part.

Jesus explained in Mathew 21:21-22, “…Assuredly, I say to you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’, it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive.”

Make God first in your life, and watch God work. Jesus stated in Mathew 6:33, “But first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Let God’s seed grow each day by putting forth the effort to fulfill your God inspired mission. God wants big things to happen in your life because He is a God of abundance. He desires that we increase and mature in every aspect of our lives. God is Divinely abundant and wants us to have a full life.

God’s dreams for us are so much bigger than our dreams for ourselves.

Let the seeds of God’s favor take root in your life by keeping the Lord first in your life. He is well able to move in an supernatural manner in our lives because He is an awesome God! Jesus said in John 15:7, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

Be full of joy each day! Jesus said in Mark 6:50, “…Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

Live with enthusiasm because if you don’t waiver or grow tired, your miracle is right around the next corner. Change your thinking and expect good things to happen each day to you. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).”

Don’t take for granted the little miracles each day so that you can be ready for when the great miracle comes. God has plans to prosper you, and He wants you to have zest for the life He has given you. When you get excited about your God, favor and blessings will more easily enter your life. Your destiny can start today when you strive to do what you love.

You purpose is jumpstarted by being passionate about God and serving Him. He is looking for people to bless. The Lord wants to open doors for you and we should expectantly look for His blessings each day. Don’t let anyone take your zeal or your joy. Get excited about your life, show God that you want to Glorify Him through your actions. Jesus explained in John 17:13, “But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.”

Approach life with excitement and enthusiasm, and watch God work. “This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).”
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend a lot of time in church for services and bible study. I also work out regularly each day and of course reading.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Just by doing my research, I discovered the ebook world. I read an article in USA Today which highlighted smashwords and I was convinced! It's a bold new world in publishing because of smashwords!!
You mention angels in you first book, tell us more.
There is help available to those believers who love God in spirit and truth; His Holy angels.

“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them (Psalm 34:7).”

There are mysteries in history which defy explanations. We can not completely understand the mysteries of the universe but we get a glimpse and a better understanding through God’s word. The Bible gives us strength and guidance for daily living. We learn how others dealt with adversity and the tools available to us when we obey God. When a person has a passion for Godly living and an excitement about learning more about their heavenly father, supernatural doors open. No one is perfect but we can become so much better than we currently are. We can also attain a quality of life previously undreamed of when we completely surrender to the will of God. We have great power in us because we are ‘of God’, and because of the Holy Spirit which indwells in us. I want to discuss another benefit of being a true servant of the Lord; access to His Holy angels.

Holy angels are special, supernatural beings who serve God and help carry out His work on Earth. They bring God’s message to people (Luke 1:26), give guidance (Exodus 14:19), carry out punishment (2 Samuel 24:16), patrol the Earth (Zechariah 1:9-14) and fight the forces of evil (2 kings 6:16-18 and Revelation 20:1-2). The Bible discusses angels throughout the Old and New Testaments because they are an extension of the will of God.

Even though angels are usually invisible to us, angels are real because the Word of God says they are. The important part of this concept is that angels are more involved in our daily lives that we realize. One of the primary purposes of angels is to be servants or ministers to those who are to inherit salvation. “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heir of salvation (Hebrew 1:14).”

In Psalm 103:20 we learn, “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.” When we obey God and live within His system, we have access to His supernatural ministers. It’s all about God and His plans for our lives. When we are in line with God’s word, the angels heed His word and assist us. God is able to dispatch any number of angels necessary to do His will.

“For He shall give His angels change over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash you foot against a stone (Psalm 91:11-12).” When we please God through our praise, worship, thoughts, words and actions, we gain supernatural assistance.

Angels have great wisdom because they are, “to know all things that are in the earth (2 Samuel 14:20).” Because the angels follow God’s will and have great wisdom, they are interested in God’s plans for us, and have roles in those plans.

1 Peter 1:12 states, “To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — things which angels desire to look in into.” Angels are like God’s secret agents who are interested in the well-being of God’s other creatures, humans. There are guardian angels who provide assistance in times of need. By serving God faithfully, we can gain God’s favor whereby His angels help us to have an abundant life.

God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What God did for His servant Daniel, He will do for us. “Then Daniel said to the king, ‘O king, live forever! My God has sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouth, so that they have not hurt me, because I was innocent before Him’…(Daniel 6:21-22).”

Today, be uplifted and encouraged knowing that when you do the will of God, an angel will be encamped around you to assist you in order to have an abundant life!
Have you ever thought of giving up writing or just giving up in general
No, Too many people allow “giving up” to be an option on their menu of life but that’s not what God has on His menu for you. God has specifically stated that, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).” Fear comes from the darkness but God offers light and love to everyone unconditionally!

The absence of faith creates the internal conditions for fear. Too many people live and operate in a constant state of fear. Fear grips, trips and strips away our blessings from God. Fear tells God that we don’t believe, and unbelief is a great sin in God’s eyes. Fear leads to doubt, despondence, depression, sadness and other negative emotions. The devil loves when we are afraid and don’t fully trust God. Fear is not how God designed us to live. There are people out there afraid of everything, even success.

Stop being afraid of the change that God is trying to put in your life. Too many people are scared of the solution that God is share with them. Sometimes, God puts the solution right in front of us but we refuse to accept it. Stop focusing on the fear because is takes from your divine nature. God is always trying to give us a solution but we are a stubborn people like the Hebrews of the Old Testament who thought they could do it their way. Faith and fear are opposites. You can’t be afraid and say that you are trusting in God. Faith will allow you to move through the storms with a great attitude while fear keeps you dwelling on the past.

Opportunity awaits but you must plan for your destiny. If you can overcome your fear then you can reach towards your blessings and ultimately your destiny. Too many people are paralyzed by fear and never reach their Godly potential. We can’t always believe in people but we can always believe in God. Put your complete trust in God today. Too many people allow the storm to reach deep into their soul. They talk about the past more than they talk about their God. They let the trauma seep in and change the course of their destiny. Everyone has gone through trauma, but we weren’t created to stay broken. You must tell yourself that you will not let the spirit of fear into your soul. When fear overcomes our faith, then God’s favor is hindered in our lives.

You can make it but you must keep fighting. Fear constrains while faith frees and empowers us. The below scriptures provide clear guidance and truth.

–“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).”
–“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrew 11:6).”
–“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).”
–“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love (1 John 4:18).”
–“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God (Philippians 4:6).”

Fear is not ‘of God’. Fear will always strip, grip and trip you. The good news is that God says that we must operate in faith. Tell yourself that you have hope and help in the Lord! Fear leads to anxiety and to poor health. Many times our poor health can be attributed to inner fears and worries.

Wally Amos the founder of famous Amos Cookie Company and the author of Man With No Name wrote, “When we have faith, we reinforce our subconscious to make our lives move forward and flourish. We create our own circumstances, and our subconscious merely reproduces in our environment what we conjure up in our minds…”

See and seek the future you want. Do not doubt ever. Focus on the daily blessings that God has put in your life. Be thankful for all that has come into your life thus far. Be grateful and stay in faith!

Norman Vincent Peale stated in ‘In God we Trust’, “You can’t get much faith through a person who is filled with sin, wrong, and guilt. To have a flow of this power through a personality, to release it, you must have a transformed personality. You have to get rid of hate, ill will, grudges, and sins, for they block power. Only a little power trickles through, not enough to give great strength. So form in your mind a picture of yourself believing, achieving, what God wants you to do and to be. Cleanse yourself so that His power may get through you. No matter what obstacles are before you, if you will cleanse yourself and believe, you will obtain absolutely astonishing feats. Throw back your shoulders, let your heart sing, let your eyes flash, let your mind be lifted up. Live with verve and victory and enthusiasm, such as you never lived before.”
How do you approach cover design?
I actually picked my cover out from http://www.selfpubbookcovers.com and then personalized it. They have many designs available.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible, James Allen's As A Man Thinketh, Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the mind, Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen and the Count of Monte Christo by Alexander Dumas.
As a Christian, what's your thoughts about prayer
The Bible says is 1 Thessalonians 4:17, “Pray without ceasing.”

Prayer changes things; and prayer changes us. James 5:16 states, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Is your prayer life ‘fervent’?

Some people don’t have a daily deep spiritual practice. It’s difficult to have a deep spiritual life without a deep prayer life. Prayer allows us to align our lower self with our higher self. We hold great creative power inside of us but it we are living a broken or defeated lifestyle then it’s difficult to tap into this power.

Therapists talk about the importance of cognitively restructuring our thoughts in order to transform our lives. Prayer is central to this transformation.

The urge to pray is universal because it orients our spiritual life towards God. Life has great meaning and our purpose is to discover that meaning. Life strives to keep us bound to illusions and delusions. Finding our true self is the goal. Prayer and meditation helps us to find our true God nature, to become closer to the divine nature in each of us.

Prayer is pure energy and right prayer leads to an abundant life. How does one pray in the right manner? I found eight principles which has helped me to deepen my prayer life:

1-Expressing thanks for our faith and for the change which knowing God has produced in our lives. My life was changed through knowing God. (Asking God to help us develop a God conscious view of the world, God-consciousness).
2-Asking God to help us to know what He wants us to do for Him (Purpose).
3-Asking God to help us deepen our spiritual understanding (Wisdom).
4-Asking God to help us live for Him (Meaning).
5-Asking God to give us more knowledge of His nature and His mind (Seeking the right things).
6-Asking God to give us strength to endure (Endurance to live in this fallen world without being conformed, being steadfast in our faith).
7-Asking God to fill us with joy, strength and thankfulness each day (Being a light for others).
8-Asking God to share the above gifts with others (Our mission).

When reading the Bible, ask God to speak to you. When you meditate and pray throughout the day, seek not only to speak to God but also to strive to listen for His voice. Prayer is all about coming into God’s presence. We all have a deep inner desire to know God, and prayer will help us get there.

Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray (Luke 11:1).” The disciples wanted to learn how they could draw closer to God and feel His presence in a deeper way. Are you trying to become closer to God each day through effective fervent prayer? In order to live an abundant life, one must seek to deepen their prayer life.

Remember what James, Jesus’ half brother, wrote, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).” A strong prayer life leads to an abundant life!
