Interview with Piper Giannini

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
One of the things I do to help me fall asleep at night is to make up scenarios in my head. This is something I look forward to everyday. There's a bit of excitement there, as nothing is really impossible. In a way, this is just like writing. Due to the fact that I don't have many followers, I am not restricted in what I write. Rather, I can choose what ever topic and type of plot I want. This opens up a lot of figurative doors in relation to stories. The thrill of coming up with a new idea is also a big part of it. In fact, I have a lot of notes saved in my phone with ideas for future stories. In there, I plan the plot, characters, and problems. It helps me gather my thoughts, as well as make me more excited to write.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are very important to me. I have a few fans on Wattpad, and even fewer who read all of my books. Sometimes, without them, I would give up on a book and/or series. Fans really push me to not only put out, but to also be better. Also, fans aren't just a following for me. They are like a little family to me, and it gives me great joy to hear feedback from them.
Who are your favorite authors?
I'm not sure I have an answer. I love so many topics from so many different genres that I don't have any specific favorite author. I follow series more so than authors.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I know every step I take has an effect on my life. That's why I persevere through those mornings where I just want to sleep in. I know that I can't lack, even if it's easier. Sometimes I fail, but I'm doing my best to make everything count.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I play trombone, work in a movie theater, work in an antique shop, watch my favorite shows, read A LOT, and focus on school.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Most of the time, I read stories on Wattpad. What story I read depends on my mood. But most of the time, I'll look at the suggested section of Wattpad or the books that come up as similar to what I'm reading.
How do you approach cover design?
I usually try to find a picture I've taken that fits the story. Then, I add filters to make it seem more cover worthy and add my title and name. It's both exciting and aggravating because I'm ready to publish my story.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
God, no. I have been writing since I ever learned how to. I do remember how in elementary school, the PTA "published" our stories. I couldn't tell you what my story was about, though. Sometimes when I'm looking at old stories I wrote, I surprise myself. I don't give young me enough credit. Some of that was really good.
What is your writing process?
Normally, I come up with the general idea. I begin to write it and plan more as I go along, often going back to add in some other element to the story.
What are you working on next?
Right now, on Smashwords, I'm editing Matched with the Prince. On Wattpad, I'm writing a Doctor Who fanfic. After both, I plan to work on the sequel to Matched with the Prince. I am very much looking forward to that.
