What is your e-reading device of choice?
I enjoy reading on a Kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I have had success staffing a booth at arts and crafts events.
Describe your desk
My desk is very messy.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on a farm in Stanfield, NC. My mother was a country cook, and I try to mimic her cooking style in my writing; i.e., a little bit of this and a little bit of that. And don't worry too much about measuring!
When did you first start writing?
I began writing this cookbook when I retired in 2004.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I wanted to share my cookbook with all of the new cooks who use their smartphones, tablets, etc., in the kitchen.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I knew that I could do it myself, because there are so many resources available on the internet.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am just getting started, but I have high hopes that Smashwords will help me to reach new audiences.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that I am helping someone to put good food on their table.
What do your fans mean to you?
I love hearing from people all over the world. We all come from different backgrounds, but we share so much in common.
What are you working on next?
I hope to create a cookbook focusing on desserts (my weakness!).
