Interview with Andrew Daly

What's the story behind your latest book?
I started writing Portal of Vaal at age 12. It started as fan fiction for players on the BossSMP server for Minecraft. Everyone loved the stories and kept asking me for more. After a few years, we had a full novel.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a new book, tentatively titled Menace of Vaal. The hero, Motorthud, may venture over to the dark side.

Rick Riordan, Stephen King, Peter Lerangis, JK Rowling
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, Netflix, Running, Swimming, Outdoor activities - zip lining, kayaking, ropes courses
How do you approach cover design?
Portal of Vaal cover was designed by a high school student in New York. It was part of an AP project and she produced a cover that completely captured the feel of Portal of Vaal.
What do you read for pleasure?
I've been reading a lot of Stephen King lately.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth, and bookmarks with Portal of Vaal info on them.
When did you first start writing?
I first really started writing at 12 years old.
