Interview with Christy Aldridge

What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy reading all works of writing, but my preferred genre is horror. I am a huge Stephen King fan. Mostly, I'll read anything i can get my hands on out of respect for the craft and the urge to continue on in my own writing growth.
Describe your desk
Cluttered with toys and gum wrappers.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I have spent my entire life in the south, most of it in the sticks in lower Alabama. Being involved in this southern atmosphere has really opened my eyes to the diversity it has with most of the world. Living in a small town has also allowed me to chance to view how corrupt such places typically are.
When did you first start writing?
My first ever writing assignment was in the fourth grade. At around twelve, I began writing fanfictions, but it was at fourteen that I decided writing was the career I wanted to pursue.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Weeping Willow came about during a run with my little brother. He asked if a particular tree, an oak clouded in moss, was a Weeping Willow. I informed him that it was not, and then we began to talk about a girl named Willow who had a tragic life and wasn't loved by anyone but her only friend.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The freedom to decide.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The chance to live outside of my own life.
What do your fans mean to you?
When I get some, I'll tell you.
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen King, Sandra Brown, Edgar Allen Poe, Charlotte Bronte, H.P. Lovecraft,.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My dogs barking at me.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Dreaming about sleeping.

I was tired of my wife. I was tired of being married. I just wanted her to stop eating, but she wouldn't. So, I came up with a plan, and I put it in motion. I just thought you would like to hear, because I know I'm not alone.
