Interview with Catharine Murphy

What's the story behind your latest book?
Susan Hale and I are Certified Professional Organizers and many of our clients need help with business processes. We have given several office organization and productivity workshops, and felt like we wanted to help a larger audience so we decided to publish our favorite tips and methods.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have a lot of great organization and productivity information to share and this was the fastest way to reach my audience. I like to write and it's fun and rewarding to help others improve their lives and their businesses.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I have done a lot of writing in my former life as a process improvement engineer, so I tend to look at projects from a technical writing perspective. My writing is concise and precise with no wasted words or fluff - "just the facts".
What are you working on next?
I have several more books to publish in the Work Life Series. After that, I will work on the Home Life Series. The topics are endless!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I am a very motivated person. Before I get up, I make a plan for the day. I'll consider schedule, obligations, appointments, and fun time. Once I have the plan in mind, I am ready to get up and get going. The plan is what motivates me and the accomplishments are what inspire me.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have a business as a professional organizer and productivity specialist so I am either working with clients or attracting new clients.. (www.passionfororder.com) I also have a horse that I ride several times per week. My horse and I have competed in team penning and ranch sorting (timed events with cows) and now we are preparing for cutting competitions.
