Interview with Rebecca Lynn

Published 2015-01-15.
What is your name?
Wow, you have us stumped with the first question! You would think asking us our names would be an easy question. When we first decided to start writing, we didn’t want people to know that we love reading Romance, let alone write it! We decided to go the anonymity route and hope to “come out” in the future. So, for now, our name is Rebecca Lynn (a combination of both our names).
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
We both grew up on the East Coast and wanted NYC to be the location of our first book/series. We know the place well!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Rebecca: I’ve been an avid reader of romance novels ever since I’ve been a teenager. They’re the only books I ever read. The idea of writing was something I’d wanted to pursue for years but until Lynn suggested it, it hadn’t become a reality. I blame her for creating this monster! I love thinking up how two people meet, what their dialogue with each other is, and basically spinning tales about ‘happily ever after’s. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m almost to the point where I love writing books just as much, if not more than reading them.

Lynn: I, on the other hand, LOVE reading more than writing and that is why Rebecca is the writer! We collaborate on plot, dialogue and all that other fun stuff, but writing comes easily for Rebecca. For me, I agonize over every word and if I was the writer, we would still be working on Release.
Up until 50 Shades of Grey came out, I read lots of fiction but rarely read romance novels. I only pictured romance books with Fabio on the cover. Little did I know that they are so much more! I started reading romance religiously and my husband has cursed the day he bought me my first Kindle in February 2012. Now, all of my reading is for research, at least that is what I tell him.

We wanted to write on our terms and being an indie author gives us that freedom.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Hands down, Amazon's Kindle Fire. However, we have been known to resort to other devices to get our reading fix.
Describe your desk
Our "desks" are Rebecca's lap and Lynn's kitchen counter. We have actual desks, but never use them because they are covered with our husbands' stuff.
