Interview with Robin Lynn Wildes

Published 2017-04-11.
Who are your favorite authors?
Catherine Anderson for one...I also love Nora Roberts, Diana Palmer, Stuart Woods and James Patterson.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Every morning, I rise to prayerful yoga, then take my coffee out to enjoy the morning. It's that greeting God gives me each morning that gets me motivated to start my day.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on the Fourth Book of the Festival Series...Night Music.
It's the story of the oldest daughter of the Evans Clan, Macy. She is a widow with a secret.
Her suitor is a man we met in Book Two, No Strings, Richard "Rick" Barrington.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy music, puzzle games, spending time with my family, especially my two grand-daughters.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
A lot of time I just look for works by writers that I correspond with on Facebook. Other times I see an ad from a new or favorite author.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Sure, the first story I wrote was when I was very young, I think around ten. I didn't care for the sad story concerning Smokey the Bear, so I wrote a happier ending so that his little family was all together again.
What is your writing process?
Research is key to my process. I have a story board where I put various pieces of information that pertain to my work in progress. For instance..,the hero in my current work is a quadriplegic, and I studied the many customs and necessary ablutions that are necessary for him to function...including the exciting invention of a standing chair.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I was reading at a very young age...but I can tell you the first book that I read where when I was through I just KNEW that I wanted to be a writer.

That book was Heidi...by Johanna Spyri.
How do you approach cover design?
I can see the ideas in my head...then I collaborate with my good friend, who is a graphic designer, and we tweak until my ideas are complete.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Night Magic--Charlotte Vale Allen...because I am a sucker for a "Beauty and the Beast" type story.
All of the Stone Barrington books by Stuart Woods...because...I like his attitude.
Phantom Waltz by Catherine Anderson...because she made Bethany, who was in a wheelchair, the most loved heroine.
The Last Song-Nicholas Sparks....because sometimes you just need to UGLY CRY.
and Heidi, by Johanna Spyri, and the sequels, because it started me on this magical journey.
What do you read for pleasure?
For pleasure, after the newspaper, I am a true sucker for a good love story. A sweet story...not one rife with gratuitous sex or graphic sexual content. I feel people know the mechanics...and we are more apt to love the people, and their emotions...without being voyeurs.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my Kindle! I have two!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Facebook and appearing at book signing events with lots of goodies and freebies are the best. I also feel that you have to sell yourself.
