Interview with Brooke Ashleigh Watson

When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was a child. Reading and writing has always been a passion of mine. It is the way I escape from reality for a little while.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing to me is that I can create a whole other world. I can push reality aside for a while and make a magical place where people are happy in the end.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind the book I am working on is a girl who grows up believing that she is normal. When she turns 16 though, she discovers she is anything but normal. In fact, she is a nephilim. You can find the first chapter on my wattpad at
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me. I love reading their comments and gaining knowledge from the advise they give me. To anyone who comments on my works or is a fan of mine, I want to say thank you so much and I hope I can live up to your expectations.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Reading and writing. Knowing that when I get out of bed I can enter a different world that I enjoy.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing, I spend my time reading.
What do you read for pleasure?
I mostly read fantasy and children's books. I might be 18, but you are never too old to enjoy a good children's book. =)
Describe your desk
I don't really have a desk. I just write wherever I happen to be. When an idea comes to mind, I run with it. No matter where I am.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have two. Harry Potter's J.K. Rowling. I have not sat down to read all of her books because they are a little too sad for me, but I love how she made a completely new world with her books. My favorite poet is Robert Frost.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is; have an idea, get my computer or a piece of paper, and start writing. I don't brainstorm or anything like that. I go straight to the story. The words just flow for me. =)
