Interview with Anthony Caraway

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am from West Texas. I grew up in Stamford, Texas. It is a small country town. 40 miles North of Abilene, Texas. Population is about 3300. My background has a great influence on my writing. A lot of the settings I write in my non-fiction books will be a reflection of where and how I grew up.
When did you first start writing?
Writing was a gradual thing for me. I believe my appreciation for reading and writing grew in within this last decade.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think it changes depending on what I am writing, because sometimes it's a stress reliever and other times it is a feeling of accomplishment.
What is your writing process?
Sometimes I write a list of possible titles, characters, or simply random notes. Other times I just freely write unless I have a book that I am currently working on.
How do you approach cover design?
I like color so I like to but as much color into what I do. That is the only thing that has to be there. Everything else is created on the spot.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read the bible for pleasure. I love poetry as well.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
my computer
What's the story behind your latest book?
I want people to be inspired by the love and determination within themselves as opposed to proving others wrong.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story I ever read, but I do remember the first authors that influenced me. They were Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe. My High School English teachers introduced us to them.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Purpose Driven Life - Other than the bible, It has been the most influential.
The Bible - It is simply the best book on earth.
Fox in Socks - Yes, it's a children's book, but I still read it for consistent diction. Try reading it fast!
Friday Night Lights - It was a great book about football. Glad they made a movie.
The Power of Prayer for Couples - We never had rocky seasons in our marriage, but this helped strengthen ours even more.
What do your fans mean to you?
They inspire me to be great and my best. They remind me that someone is watching and listening, someone needs help and inspiration.
