Without a doubt, the Percy Jackson series. I grew up reading those books, and Rick Riordan has had a significant impact on my life by writing them. The movies need a reboot, though.

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Posting on Facebook. I sent samples (the first chapter) of my book to people I don't know that well, and I send my close friends updated versions of the book. I won't really begin my actual "marketing" until I complete and publish my book.
