Interview with Richard Sutton

What do your fans mean to you?
Knowing that I have readers that care enough to share their feelings about my writing is very, very important to me. I enjoy hearing from them even if they have a bone to pick over something I wrote, or even if I neglected to write something! It's all good. Writers can't exist in a vacuum and our ideas can only improve when they get additional input.
What are you working on next?
I've got a couple of ideas already in short story form that will either be a non-fictional collection of our experiences on the reservations of the Southwest as Indian traders since 1985... or it may become a series of novels in the same genre, whatever that would be. Any ideas?
Who are your favorite authors?
James Lee Burke, Tony Hillerman, Everett Capp, John Irving, JRR Tolkien and GRR Martin. Oh, Bradbury, Joyce and Conrad... and ... It can go on for a long, long time.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The bluejays outside my Summer window won't let me sleep in anyway. Somebody's gotta feed the cats and I make the best coffee and tea, so it's no good pulling the sheet over my head.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading. Playing steel string guitar, messing around in boats, pruning Laurels doing home improvements, reading. There's an endless list.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
MY Facebook contacts keep me supplied along with Goodreads and a bunch of book sellers' emails.

They might come true.
