They mean that I have more of a reason to keep writing. I used to just write because it was a hobby I enjoyed, but now that I actually have a few people that enjoy what I do, it gives more of a push to challenge myself. Without them, I probably wouldn't have even finished my first book :)
What are you working on next?
The sequel to Shadow Hill ~Nightmares Are Only The Beginning~. I'm hoping to wrap up the story plot in it!!
Who are your favorite authors?
JK Rowling (Harry Potter) Hideyuki Kikuchi (Vampire Hunter D) TA BArron (The Lost Years of Merlin) Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games)
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Way too many things! My daughter, my husband, my books, work, my family and friends, and just way too much to list.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my "Not Writing Time" -- I'm ALWAYS writing! -- working, being mommy, or just lazing around the house with my family :)
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was a horribly cliched piece of junk I wrote in high school with two of my friends at the time. It was about two brothers and the fight for a kingdom's future. It was something along the lines of a rejected brother returning to seek vengeance on his brother and his family, and to claim the kingdom the rejected one thought was rightfully his, or....something.
Such cliche. Many grammar. Wow. :)
What is your writing process?
Usually I think of things when I'm as far as humanly possible from a pen and paper... In the car on the way to work, sleeping, walking through the store, doing dishes or cleaning....
It sucks so much! I try to remember as much as I can and I write down what I can when I get the time. Usually those idea sit around for a long time, mostly because I couldn't remember all the juicy details, and I get mad and give up. That's my process hahaha.
How do you approach cover design?
Oh lord, cover designs... It took me a week to even DECIDE what to do for Shadow Hill v01's cover. I usually choose a million different photos, try to make them work in Photoshop, get mad, give up for a few days, then come back and create something entirely different.
It's annoying and irritates me so darn much!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I honestly don't like e-readers. I've always the feel of a book in my hands, and the smell of a brand new one as you open it for the first time. But sadly, the world is becoming more and more digital, and so e-reading is the new way to go.
If I really had to choose, I'd say the Samsung Galaxy Tab, or an Asus tablet.
What's the story behind your latest book?
There is a certain man on Youtube who has garnered a significant following in the past two years. He's a wonderful human being, and cares deeply for those who view him as their idol and even their role model. He hosts charities, plays terrifying games, and keep a smile on his face even when confronted with the nastiest side of humanity.
He's the reason why I started -- and finished! -- my first book.
His fan following created a dark alter-ego of his -- a demonic persona. He's another part of the inspiration.
So, after seeing all these stories and drawings and pictures and ideas, I just decided to crank out a story of my own, not really realizing where all it would go.
Without him, I'm not sure this book ever would have existed, so I owe the man a great deal of gratitude and thanks.
Describe your desk
I don't have a "physical" desk. More like a digital desktop and a couple of stenography pads I use for writing down notes.
My laptop's Documents section is a bizarre mess, and the storage drive I store all my notes on practically cries for organization when I use it!!
