Interview with Rosa Gray

What are you working on next?
Another fantasy novel, this time set in our world. Early stages yet, but I already have so many ideas I want to put in!
Who are your favorite authors?
So many!
Stephen King,
Phillipa Greggory,
Erika Johansen
Clive Barker and
Molly Harper.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
During the week it's work. Getting out of bed on the weekends is optional.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, when I started primary school I kept writing the same story over and over with a few details changed about my perilous journey to the corner shop.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story I ever read, but my favourite one from an early age was a picture book about witches doing some sort of cooking/ritual. I think it inspired my love for both fantasy and horror.
How do you approach cover design?
I use the website fiverr, there are some great designers on there who do the work at very good prices.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Misery by Stephen King, he really knows how to get inside the heads of his characters.
The Lazarus Heart by Poppy Z Brite, I read this when I was about 14 and it still sticks with me.
The Monk by Matthew Lewis, an absolute classic with an amazing female villian.
Going Postal by Terry Pratchett, a great blend of comedy and fantasy, love all his works that I have read.
Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg, just an amazing story.
What do you read for pleasure?
All sorts, it just depends on what I feel like at the time.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My laptop, but I also use my phone when I am out and about.
Describe your desk
You don't even want to know!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It lets me read the story I have been daydreaming about, even if it means I have to write it out first.
