Interview with SMGreen

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I currently utilize a Kindle Fire HD and a Kindle Fire for the majority of my reading. My son owns a Nook and we have several ebooks on it as well.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Memphis, TN. I have always loved reading even as a young child. My awareness and amazement at how an author can transport the reader to another time, place or event inspired me to begin writing during my teenage years for school newsletters and has grown throughout my adult life to creating articles and books that can inspire and help others.
When did you first start writing?
I began writing, as a teenager, for my local school newsletter. As a teenager, I would often read short stories that were often included in national magazines and publications and dreamed of someday being able to produce the same type of work.
What's the story behind your latest book?
As a homeschool mother of two sons, I often look for ways to educate and inspire my children rather than through the conventional book learning. My latest book highlights some of the free and low-cost activities in Dallas, Texas that can be shared with everyone in the family.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Several years ago I wrote a novel that I was very proud of and wanted to share it with others but seemed to run into obstacles with getting it published. I began looking at the successes that other indie authors were having with self-publishing and decided to follow their advice and strike out on my own.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I am a people person at heart and love being able to share my knowledge and experiences with others.
What are you working on next?
With over 15 years experience in the financial management industry, I am working on starting a blog to educate and motivate others in money management and finances. I am also currently working on another e-book for publication.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors are Sidney Sheldon, Danielle Steel, Judith Krantz, Stephen King, Robert Ludwig, and Dean Koontz. My love of reading spans across all categories as long as the author can capture me early in the book.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Most of my ebooks have been found online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. The first story I ever wrote was titled, "Storms" and was written as a means to encourage others that may have difficulties in their lives to know that even those "storms" would pass. It has been copyrighted but not published yet.
