Interview with Samuel Thorstenson

What is your e-reading device of choice?
Samsung Tab-A
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I haven't marketed anything yet.
Describe your desk
Too much stuff piled on there.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I'd rather not say where I grew up, but it absolutely had an impact on the way I see the world and what I write.
When did you first start writing?
Probably around third or fourth grade.

I used to make choose your own adventure stories on my Commodore 64, where you would pick what happened next to the character.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I don't want to give anything away yet.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Because the big house publishers are too picky about what they publish, so I'd rather have complete control over my stories, how they are released, and the content that I put into them.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I like the creative freedom it offers me.
What do your fans mean to you?
They keep me cool.
What are you working on next?
Who are your favorite authors?
Tom Clancy, James Patterson, Lisa Gardner, and Shel Silverstein
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The pressing need to live my life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Through various Facebook groups I'm in.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
No. I've written quite a few.
What is your writing process?
I'll think of something at work, I'll spend the day letting it marinate, and then I write it after I figure it out.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
No, that had to be in second or third grade. Too many years ago.
How do you approach cover design?
I haven't made a cover yet.
What do you read for pleasure?
The news. It's an interesting time we live in. It's difficult to ascertain what is real news and what is fake news.
