Interview with Sandra Girouard

Published 2013-11-12.
What are you working on next?
I have a few projects in the works. A report on finding "lost space" for increasing capacity for home food storage; a how-to on creating growing your inventory without breaking the budget, and expanding my offerings on gifts form the pantry.
Who are your favorite authors?
C.S. Lewis, Douglas Adams, Hugh Howey, Michael Bunker, Richard Stephenson, Patrice Lewis.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The day! There are so many things to do - new and old. There's never enough time, especially if I want to fully experience whatever I'm up to! The sooner I'm up and at 'em, the sooner I'm in the thick of everything.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
My days are full -- raising a family overflows the cup, and on any given day, the bunch of us can be found with our noses in books or hand in the garden soil. During quiet time, I like to read, enjoy a cup of tea (a cup, complete with saucer), and even work something up... with yarn and needles.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I follow authors I read on Facebook, and attend to what they're reading. I also love to troll the top 100 lists on Amazon.
What is your writing process?
Ponder, outline, write like mad, then revise, revise, revise.
Describe your desk
Most of the time, a mess of items I want at hand for a quick reference grab. Every few weeks, I clear it all away and start anew. When it's clear, there are writing utensils, an oil lamp, an MP3 docking station... and generally, a cup and saucer for tea.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Sony eReader, touch screen
What's the story behind your latest book?
The motivation behind my current projects have come STRAIGHT from my readers. They've shared their areas of challenge and frustration, and that just got my brain ticking. Sooner or later, it all makes it's way out through the keyboard.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The internet has really leveled the playing field. By nature, I focus intently on getting the job done. Self-publishing is just the right fit for me.
