Interview with Cora Baylor

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I'm partial to my kindle, it's one of the old 3g ones so I can download books without wi-fi
Describe your desk
I have an old green desk with a class top from my Nana's house that I write at, first in a composition notebook and then on my laptop.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia in a log house that my father built himself. When I write about "downtown" areas, I'm typically thinking of the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. The car most of my characters have greatly resembles my 91 red Volvo 740 that I had in high school, and the suburban areas I write about are based on the gated community one of my friends lived in.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first story (5 pages maybe) when I was six. I've never stopped.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I like to deal with the psychological aspect of broken relationships and affairs, I'm interested in what drives them. Inconvenient Love is my first upload- I've been nervous about sharing my work. I am currently working on four other books that should be ready soon.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It's something I'm good at and something I enjoy doing. I've always ybeen encouraged to write by people who've read my non-fiction as well as my non-erotica stories. What's more, I enjoy writing erotica and experimenting with what drives people to do what they do and make the choices that they make.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has given me the opportunity to put my work out there. For the first time, the general public can read my writing and that is pretty amazing to me.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
What I love about writing is the creation of a whole new world with characters that, hopefully, take on a life of their own.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Fans mean that my book is not only being read, but enjoyed. That is the ultimate goal for me, to build a loyal fan base.
What are you working on next?
I have about four books in the work, including my first M/M couple. My focus, however, is on a story titled "The Doctor's Choice." Here's the synopsis:

"The handsome doctor, Evan Elison, had it all: a beautiful wife, two adorable little girls, a lucrative career in medicine, and was a respected member of the community. That is, until his wife, Alison, walks out on him for another man. Devastated, Evan tries to go on with life but in a small town where everyone knows every one it's a daunting task. That is, until the neighbor girl, Kelsey, comes back into town from college. Will he find a new love in the nineteen year old beauty, or will life throw yet another twist his way?"
Who are your favorite authors?
I'm partial to Joan Didion and Chekov, they are two of my favorites.
