Interview with Sandy Van Heest

What are you working on next?
Another Bible study. This new one is on Eve, the Mother of All Living.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I look forward to serving God in some capacity. Most days, this is routine. Sometimes, though, I get to publish a book :)
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm a computer weenie. I like organizing, and have projects in the works, like organizing my files, my pictures, etc.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Smashwords and Amazon have huge inventories of every type of topic you can think of.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
A book for my grandchildren, called "Buzz the Bachelor Buzzard."
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible, because it's the story of God's love for us and an instruction book on daily living. A favorite author is Frank Peretti because he's so descriptive. I really liked his angel books.
What do you read for pleasure?
All kinds of things. My tastes are ecclectic. Right now I'm reading a novel by W.E.B. Griffin about World War II.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The internet...HTML
Describe your desk
Neat and organized. I like to organize, so I'm constantly rearranging things.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the suburbs outside of Milwaukee, Wis. I was an animal lover as a child. I was fascinated by the Bible and my natural curiosity led me to many Bible studies, until I went off to a Bible college.
When did you first start writing?
High school creative writing class.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Skeptics isn't a story. It's a Bible study geared to teach the reader how to answer question skeptics raise.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is really easy to publish, and it's free.
Published 2013-12-22.
