Tolkien. Eoin Colfer. Rick Riordan. My favorite three.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My mom yelling at me.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Just by rifling through the free ones- I never had a lot of money.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I do archery, I play Minecraft, I play Counter-Strike, I read.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I'd have to say: The Silmarillion, The Last Battle, Artemis Fowl, The Last Olympian, and The Return of the King. They all inspired me to write my own fantasies.
Describe your desk
Just a computer, a mouse, and a headset. I listen to music while I write, and sometimes you can tell what I was listening to when you read it. Well, I can.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. I wrote a 10-page children's book that was never published. It was pretty funny- a horse going trick-or-treating, or something like that. It was really cute.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing my ninth grade year. There was an incident, and that inspired Shades of the Past. That kinda grew, and here I am.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Well, like I said, there was a very elaborate hoax that got a lot of people scared. It kind of inspired me, and so I wrote about it. The book- well, I don't know where everything came from. Ideas from other authors, from movies, and from my dreams. That's about all I know how to explain.
What are you working on next?
Oh, gosh. I don't even know. After Shades of the Past, I think I might finish that series. I dunno, really. I have left room for a sequel, though.
How do you approach cover design?
Short, I talk to my artist friend, give him a description, and get him to draw it. Creative liberty, of course.
