Interview with Selacia

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I work professionally as an intuitive healer, helping people to clear energy imbalances at a DNA level. Through DNA healing—a holistic approach to wellness—I am able to help people identify and heal patterns stemming from life experiences and from inherited influences. I also provide ongoing teachings, helping people to move into wholeness and connect with their true spiritual nature.
Who are your favorite authors?
Books impacting me most include those written by authors like the Dalai Lama, Don Miguel Ruiz, Thich Nhat Hanh, Gregg Braden, and Thom Hartmann. My book includes these authors in its recommended reading list—to help my readers continue their exploration of themes my book addresses.
What do you hope your readers will gain from reading your books?
I would like my readers to have a big-picture view of our revolutionary paradigm shift. This will help readers to find peace within as they take in the news, learn about prophecies, and hear about future potentials. I want readers to understand why right now is so extraordinary, and why this is the most important time they could live on the Earth. I want them to benefit from practical tools I write about for navigating change and advancing spiritually. I want readers to discover their role as divine changemakers.
What motivates you as an author?
We live during an historic window of time. Important choices must be made—by each of us and by humanity as a whole. We are coming out of a very dark period. We live during extraordinary moments with much uncertainty, chaos, and fear-based messages. There is an awakening under way.

I am excited to be able to write books that give people a map to these unique times—how we got here, how to view current and future events, and how to create a life filled with love, joy, and purpose. What I write about comes from my life experiences, from my work in the world in both healing and mainstream activities, and from specific in-depth studies over the past two-plus decades. My early background as a professional journalist—covering the White House, politics, and the world economy—gave me an insider’s view of today’s global economic meltdown and the politics of global imbalances. Today in my healing work, serving people in sixty-four countries, I have tapped into key universal themes and questions people have about these times. In my books I seek to address these things and provide useful tools to assist people in powerfully moving forward.
What are the most challenging things you encounter in your writing process?
The biggest challenge for me is speaking about myself and my own process. Coming from journalism as my first career and then my career as a healer and teacher helping others, it has always been easier to focus on others. I learned as a journalist to keep myself out of the story in order to be objective. Writing about myself, which is rarely required but sometimes necessary, for example in the preface of Earth's Pivotal Years, is a little hard to adjust to. I am now grateful for the growth experience this provided, however, I still rarely write about myself!
Do you have any favourite experiences about writing?
I love how writing brings me in touch with people all around the world. I love to hear from people about their experiences and sharings around the concepts I teach and discuss, and it brings so much richness into my personal life, as well as always deepens my understanding of what real people are experiencing, and what is driving these large changes all around the world.
What projects are you currently working on?
I’m always writing and receiving insights about the next projects. I regularly send articles to my mailing list via the website—to help people to make sense of these unique times. I blog regularly on Huffington Post as well as on my own website; I address questions about transitions we’re experiencing and personal observations on key themes from the book. In tandem with writing, my projects include developing new teachings about healing and consciousness, and global meditations to help facilitate personal and planetary healing.
Do you do any research for your books, or did you write from experience?
My books come from my life experiences, from my work in the world in both healing and mainstream activities, and from specific in-depth studies over the past two-plus decades.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing poetry as a child, then short stories in high school before entering journalism school at university. Writing has always been a part of me, as though it’s a key destiny of my soul to do it.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
One of the first stories I wrote during college was a profile of Steve Jobs before he started Apple. I interviewed him in his garage, as he lived not too far away from me. He made a strong impression on me, as he was so creative and seemed so confident that he knew of ways to help change the world.
