Interview with Shawna Jones

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy is getting into an alternate space where the writing seems to flow and come from somewhere else. Sometimes I look at what I wrote, and think to myself, "who wrote this?" Also being able to bring two conflicting ideas together and make it work.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on a novel based on a dream. I asked a question regarding where do we go after we die, and received the answers in a dream that looked like a movie.
Who are your favorite authors?
I don't have a favorite author. I tend to choose a book based on my interests at the time. For a couple of months astrology has been a passion, and I've bought several books based on that. I've also bought some books recently by Michael Newton based on "life between lives" info.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Meditating, hiking, biking, walking, traveling, and working on my spirituality.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually through someone I know, or I want an ebook version of a lost book.
What is your writing process?
I usually write several pages as soon as I get up. I think about what I wrote for awhile, and usually some way of saying it better will show up. That's not to say it won't change again when I'm on the computer.
What is a story or novel that had an impact on you?
I read "Dimension of Miracles" some time ago, and I'll never forget the ending. It was a powerful message about living in the moment.
How do you approach cover design?
I think about elements in the story that I want conveyed and go from there. I sometimes bounce ideas off of other people.
What are some of your favorite books, and why?
Initiation by Elizabeth Haich. The book spoke to me, and is an interesting read about past lives and how initiation took place in Egypt.
Spiritual Growth by Sanaya Roman. Good information about being your Higher Self.
Star Signs by Linda Goodman. Her guru gave her a lot of universal knowledge, and I'm so glad she shared it with us. The numerology section is great.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm still working on it. Book parties are good. I'm having a book tour shortly, so we'll see.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing about five years ago. I used the book, "The Artist's Way", and then expanded on that.
What's the story behind your book?
The story starts with me looking for my real home. That is part of the spiritual journey. As I take up traveling I meet a guy in Paris, and we have a journey together. The two journeys coincide, with many issues and challenges coming up. For all of us starseeds, life here on earth can be difficult and certainly not what we are used to. Perhaps it's our initiation?
