Interview with Shawn Sparks

What are you working on next?
Emily and I are working on our next story, I guess we are always working on making new stories. We already have quite a few that we have experienced, so I am writing those, however, we are making more whenever we can...
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I guess, more aptly put, what inspires us to get IN bed each day. Emily and myself enjoy a different lifestyle, and it makes up very happy. We know we don't fit the traditional way of life, but if you feel good about something, we believe you should make the most of it. It is this lifestyle and my love of writing that has brought this about. There is risk in everything we do, being human, so we choose our risks, and do our best at midigating them, then I write about them.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I typically spend my time working, and I travel all over the world for my work. During this time, Emily and I usually correspond by email, facetime (this one can be fun), and phone. We share stories and think up of new stories for when I get home. While home, I ride motorcycles, play poker with my friends, watch football (American and European), and write, write, write.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I own a kindle and an Ipad. I like to use my kindle to read, as it is much more convientient. I like to read autobiographies and ebooks about science.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote was in the third grade, about my friends and I going to Disneyland in a bathtub (yes! a bathtub). My Mom still has this story. In the sixth grade and beyond, I would write stories for my sister's highschool English classes. My mom knew I was a writer at an early age.
What is your writing process?
I like to write from beginning to end. I don't do outlines, I do rough drafts. Then I go back and change, move around and edit, edit, edit, then I edit some more. I give my stories to a select few, and then they edit them for me also, and I go back and review and edit again. Emily is my best editor when it come to our encounters, because she can tell me how she was feeling at the time and what was inspiring her. Most of the other editors are female also. It gives me a perspective I can't have as a male. I would say that without them, I don't think I could write erotic fiction.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I will not count the endless "I can read" books my parents bought me when I was a child, I read dozens of those. Most people would say that those are simple, poorly written books, but they are not. They are perfect for implanting imagination in the minds and hearts of children, and teaching them what a great world your mind can create. An author only creates the seed, it's the child's mind that grows the univers from that seed. I loved "The Chronicles of Narnia" by CS Lewis. They inspired me to create at a young age.
How do you approach cover design?
I don't....I hate that part....ha ha
What do you read for pleasure?
Pleasure? I read Emily and My adventures....For enjoyment, I like books on science.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
As I stated prior, I like my Kindle.
Describe your desk
Papers and note cards everywhere...
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and I like the Seahawks and the Sounder. I travel all over the world, and all the different and wonderful cultures: from Russia, to Vietnam, from Africa (the whole continent) to India, from Brazil to Mexico, from Ireland to Urkrane, they all influence my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I first stared writing when I first started writing....
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first story I will publish on smashwords, is the first time Emily and I began our erotic lifestyle. I have been published before. A short story I wrote about a Ukranian girl I while I was away working. It is not an erotic story. It was published in a book that deals only in short stories and poems.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My parents did, They gave me so many seeds (books) to read.

My wife Emily and myself have begun a new adventure, a new lifestyle, an erotic behavour that set us on a course that would forever change the way we think, the way we act, and truly the way we preceive every situation we encounter. Masks is how it all began; a truly sexually graphic depiction of the events that led up to and became the fateful reality that we now share. It all starts here.....
