Interview with K. Bodie

What is your e-reading device of choice?
Usually my iPhone 6s.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media is the wonder worker of the world I've come to find. General word of mouth is also fantastic. Local book sellers are your best friends as well!
Describe your desk
I actually do not have a desk. I have my desktop placed in a special spot on my floor because I write more and better when I am able to stretch out on my stomach to write. (I also game more now that I moved my computer to a more comfortable spot for me as well :3)
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town that has slowly expanded in South Carolina. My family is an import family - meaning my Grandparents came directly over from Donegal, Ireland. I grew up in the middle of two vastly different cultures and thanks to this have learned many languages fluently. I tend to take into consideration this when I'm writing for I like to throw in at least one character that I can easily relate to the part of me that grew up around folklore and hearing my Grandmother curse and scold me in Gaelic. I tend to add a lot more diversity to my characters as well for I understand we are all not the same, but we all are equal no matter our origin, language, sexuality, or representation.
When did you first start writing?
When I was in elementary. I have always found writing the easiest form for me to communicate in.
What's the story behind your latest book?
A young girl has moved from her hometown to a large city for a change of pace, and to leave behind not only old memories but things that haunted her. She encounters many different characters of varied backgrounds, and experiences, and ends up rooming with one of the main characters. It's a mixture of a drama filled romance tossed together with a bit of friendship, family, and human growth. It's worth the read.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Ironically, my Grandmother. She supported me in all that I did growing up.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Honestly? Knowing that on some level I have connected with someone in some way. Be it as simple as an experience that they share with a character or as large scale and helping them move past something traumatic.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. What would I be without those that I can reach?
What are you working on next?
That's a secret. :3
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Honestly? The little pitter patter of my son's feet as he runs from his room to wake me up. I wake every day with a large smile, even if I am a bit tired depending on the time.
