Interview with Skye Turner

Who are your favorite authors?
Nora Roberts & Gena Showalter
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything.
Romance is my go to though.
I like Paranormal Romance, Historical Romance, YA Paranormal, Adult, Contemporary, New Adult, Dystopian.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I'm a Kindle kind of woman.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Sell yourself.
Make friends with other authors and blogs.
Just get out there and promote promote promote.
Describe your desk
A mess.
My "office space" is in the corner of my dining room. It's a little nook and my "desk" is actually my kitchen table. I have the back of it sectioned off as "no man's land" to my kids.
I've set up some shelves and it's actually really cozy.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in small town Louisiana. I actually live in the neighboring town to where I grew up now.
I'm very Southern and I learned a lot from being in a small town. I moved back with my husband when we had children because I wanted my kids to have the same things growing up that I did.
A sense of community.
You have zero privacy, but the benefits are great and I love it!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've been an Indie Editor for 3 years now.
I've read numerous books and helped other authors perfect their work.
One book and one author in particular really opened my eyes and allowed me to see that I did have a want to write my own ideas down.
So, I did.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Having people who read my work, comment on how much they love it. Or having them say, "I really want to visit the place you wrote about because it sounds so great!"
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are who I write for.
Many of them have no idea how much they mean to us as writers.
To have someone say, they love your work or you've inspired them or cheered them up in some way... it's the best feeling in the world.
Without the fans, we would be writing for ourselves.
What are you working on next?
Book 2 of Bayou Stix.
It's another band member, but this one is very different from the first...
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My kids and my husband.
They are the reason that I do everything I do.
They love me unconditionally and my husband is 100% supportive in everything I do.
He's my biggest fan!
