Interview with Sonny Banks

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life is so short and unpredictable. I firmly believe that we all need to make the most our time here on Earth. That is what inspires me to get out of bed each day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Every writer needs to read and that is what I do too. Read...read...read. Of course, now we also have the internet and access to a lot of info online too.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Smashwords is definitely a good site to get eBooks, but there are other sites like this Amazon and Apple iTunes among a host of others.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was a short story about a boy coming of age. I took a lot of the material from my own childhood as I'm sure a lot of new authors do initially. I always loved writing and it is a passion of mine.
What is your writing process?
I follow my own way of writing though I've read a whole lot of different methods. I'm mostly a plantser...I don't outline too much. Sometimes I can write a 100 words and other times I can write 3000 words. It's all about my inner inspiration.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't really remember the first story I ever read. It must have been sometime in my childhood reading the Hardy Boys series. I was fascinated with stories from childhood. They took me on a journey that I couldn't have on my own...some dangerous, some exciting, and some adventurous.
How do you approach cover design?
Covers are meant to tease readers to try out the book and I try not to forget that. Also, the cover needs to have some link to the story in the book as well. So there you go...2 elements to consider for cover design.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I still like to read printed paper books though sometimes I'll read on a Kindle or a Nook, both of which I own....and sometimes on the iPad (I have an old one lying around).
