Ten years ago I gave up my writing career. All the power was with the big publishing houses. They all said I was talented, but that they'd rather publish an established author. Early in 2014 the writing vibe suddenly returned and from the start I was a lot more hopeful. Nowadays self publishing isn't a one way ticket to disaster like it used to be. Social media gives everybody a chance to share their talents. The only thing you need is dedication and a lot of hard work and I'm not afraid to work hard for something in which I believe so strongly as my writing. So I'm very proud to say: my writing story continues.

Always have been blessed (on some occasions cursed) with an overactive imagination. As a kid, when my brother and me had to wait in the car for our parents, I always ended up imagining how they were getting killed and that we would be stranded in a foreign country all alone.

It can be such a rush to see images in your head and to find a way to describe them, to bring things to life that didn't exist moments ago. Writing is one of the true creative processes in my opinion. I also create with ceramics and lots of other products, but writing is just you, your thoughts, notenbook and pen (or computer). Pure magick.

Both dreams and nightmares keep me awake at night. And often my characters visits keep me up as well. Often I summon them on purpose, hoping I might get another one of those inspiring dreams. It was a dream that got me writing the series of books I'm working on now. The dream that became a story, the story that became a book, the book that became a bookseries.

The thrill of knowing I can write or create on a different level. All I need to do is to sit down and do it. Being able to live a creative life is a blessing.

My writing is mostly done during the dark hours of the day. In de morning/early afternoon I take care of all those businessy things nobody really likes to do. During the afternoon I create for my company Gnoom Artful Things. It is a small company that sells handmade things at fantasy fairs and online. Apart from that, I try to fill my life with as many (small) adventures as possible.

Yes. The very first story I wrote was an assignment at school when I was ten years old. The assignment was to write an ending for a story thad had an open ending. I had really enjoyed the story and flet the writing vibe for the first time in my life. My story was chosen as best of the classroom.
It took me a long while before I rediscoverd that writing vibe again in my early twenties.

I'm an organic writer, but now that my book series is getting larger than life, I'm well aware of the need to start using schematics more. I write down a lot of notes and ask myself tons of questions about my characters. Writing is just a job like any other in the sense that you need to sit down and do it. That a lot can be done during sessions of dreaming is a good thing.
