Interview with Dr. James Martin

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I submitted a couple of drafts to recognized publishing companies several years ago. I was accepted by them but they each wanted lots of money up front. I thought this was not a very good idea so I chose to go the self publishing route.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I guess it isa way of providing a great release for me personally and also gives satisfaction to receive positive reviews from readers.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are one of the main reasons for writing.
What are you working on next?
Actually, I have a couple of things in progress. One is a book kighlighting memories of a choral group that I sing with entieled, "Our First Eighty Five Years". The other is a collection of favorite words or pphrases from the Bible, entitled "A Word Worth Knowing."
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working, reading, listening to or playing music.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it became a book. Though not the first one published, it was one I worked on while publishing several others.
How do you approach cover design?
I currently use the ones provided by the publisher.
What do you read for pleasure?
Mostly theology related things.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Nook, although it is limited in what I can read.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Still trying to discover what will work.
