Interview with Spicy95

Published 2017-12-18.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing around 2nd grade, and realized I had a knack for it. (My first story was about two frogs who fell in love!) and when I turned 15, I got serious about the process.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything.
What are you working on next?
Currently, I'm not working on anything, but starting in August, I hope to start working on the second book in the Adventures of Petra & Ryder, as well as finish a novel that is connected to the series, but will be considered a stand-alone.
Who are your favorite authors?
Cornelia Funke, of course. I think reading the Inkheart series is what started me on my fantasy hype in the first place. I also love some good old mystery as well, so Victoria Houston falls in as a favorite.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing that I get one life, one shot, and I've got to make the most of it, no matter what I'm feeling. There is so much I want to do with my life, i.e, move to Los Angeles, go to Ireland, and lots more, and it won't happen if I don't work for it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Obviously, I have a job, but when I'm not at work, I love to bake and hike, as well as play Charade like games with my friends.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read anything and everything, romance, adventure, fantasy, mystery, thrillers, you name the genre, (except horror) and I've read it.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Do I ever! I was only in first or second grade, but I remember how hard my parents laughed when they read it. It was this cute little story about two frogs (my favorite creatures at the time) falling in love and having this romantic happily ever after. I went on to write several crazy stories like that in the next few years.
How do you approach cover design?
Openly. I use Canva (it's an amazing site that is free) and while I usually have an idea in mind, I scroll through all of their templates, designs, pictures, fonts, and models. I'll play around with the design until it pulls at me - when I reach that stage, I know it's done.
