Interview with Stanley Quoquillon

What's the story behind your latest book?
The story of this novel comes from true stories of observations, personal situations even though the characters are fictive, the events did happened. It is a male perspective of the aftermath in realizing of the emptiness of going conquest after conquest. Stephania was the woman who changed Maxime's path but a sequence of event took her from him. When looking for true love, there is no clear signs or way to find out the right person. Maxime thought physical traits would open the gate to love but he soon find out he made a mistake.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It was not a motivation. I had access to a computer at the time. On a whim, I start writing a story, the first 3 chapters came out pretty quickly, I printed out and passed it to my girlfriend at the time, she said it was good but wanted the rest of the story, she was really captivate about the Julia character. She wanted to know how she ended up. The other friends where intrigued about the chapters, they were wondering about if the ideas come from me or from my own personal experience. I am a pretty reserve person when it comes to things of the heart. The initial script was lost of sight for a couple of years until rediscovered after moving to a new location. Self Publishing came on the right time as finding a french editor in English environment. So readers are spoiled, they can enjoy both languages.

Every day is a blessing, there is always something new, it is a blessing to see the light of day. Life is full of mystery and sometime I wish my day would last more than 24 hrs.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well that depends on if I am not researching something on the Internet, I work in IT field, there's always something intriguing to discover and test, I am very selective on what I watch on TV, like movies a lot, biographies, science and nature documentaries.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Sometime by browsing or after reading the first portion of the ebook, if the story caught my attention and get me curious on know how it end, then I would go for it.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote that is not fair. I was approached by a friend who was thinking about a play on teenagers asking Parents questions about sex. The short story revealed two attitude a mother acting prude and super religious and over protecting and a father who understood the adolescence phase and offering guidance to pass the period with the least mistakes. When she read it, she was very please as well as her elder sister.
What is your writing process?
Well that depends on what I have to do. Inspiration comes every where, I could be watching something and the idea would pop up. I could be thinking and I have a couple of topics that comes to my mind to expand upon. Most of the time, if I am near my laptop or desktop, I would jot main points and ideas I want to include or not in the project. I would certainly brainstorm in a bunch of ideas, then arrange the way to tell the story, create the main characters, lay down a plan of the book, decide on the number of chapters and title and from there start writing when I feel the need. I usually don't set a deadline to complete as sometime it is not possible when joggling between work, University and personal stuff.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember it, the impact it had on me what the reception I got from the reader. I used to write a lot of letters and participate in pen-pal games. It made me feel that I could have a special connection with a person. It is said that written communication is a different and deeper level than verbal communication.
