Interview with Charlotte Summers

Published 2017-10-26.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Castleford, a smallish place just near Leeds. (Uk) This influenced my writing as I now only like to write about small places, I actually live in Leeds now and every so often I sneak off to Castleford and sit near the river while I think about my next books.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I was 13, I found it helped with my mother's untimely death when I was 12. It helped me to escape into a world where I could dream she was still with me. I haven't looked back since I first started.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My animals do. I have two dogs (Chase and Shyla) and two cats (Tiger and Saro) They are mostly the reason I wake up as they fill the days with fun and adventure.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I normally spend my time reading a good book while having my dogs curled up next to me by a roaring fire. I also like to take my dogs on big long walks as this gives me ideas about new books.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I Normally look at the cover, if it catches my eye and why? I also check the reviews, however, don't really care about them, I do however read the blurb before I decide to get the book.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do, I was 13 and I wrote about a dog that had got lost in the woods. He howled and cried for his owner but couldn't find him. This dog went on a massive journey to find his home.
What is your writing process?
Think....... Think...... Write..... Bang my head..... and then just keep writing until I cannot think anymore which is when I call it a day and go to sleep.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes I do it was silver series by cheree alsop. It actaully saved my life. I was going down a dark path in life and this book was the only thing that stopped me. I felt like the characters knew how I felt and that I didn't have to face my fears and demons alone.
What do you read for pleasure?
I give anything ago, however, I like to read about werewolves and vampires as they are my favourite creatures.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting to create a new world, getting to have adventures with the people I make up. however, the most joyful thing is when my readers like my stuff, it makes me feel like I'm over the moon.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean everything, without them I wouldn't be me! I wouldn't be the writer I am and I certainly wouldn't be a published author.
