Published 2013-10-30.
When did you first start writing?
I started my first book in junior high school inspired by the movie "Bridge on the River Kwai." I was so taken with the drama; I wanted to create it on my own. It was after college that I completed my first novel. It was terrible,
What do you read for pleasure?
I actually prefer to write for pleasure, but my favorite author is John Steinbeck. I love his offbeat characters and meaningful stories.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Rebellion. Independent publishing is like alternative music or guerilla filmmaking. It's find it great breaking free from the norm.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When I touch readers emotionally. Recently I received reviews for "One with the Wind," saying they have cried. Reader reviews actually made me cry. When I move readers to tears, I have done my job as a writer and it makes all the hard work worth it.
What do your fans mean to you?
Honestly I appreciate fans, but I don't really want to be "fanned." I'm a writer; it's what I do. I should fan readers.
How do you approach cover design?
At first I attempted to make my own. I do have a fine arts background, but now I hire experts. I work with a great cover designer and I provide him with details of the characters, mood of the book, and brief story details and he takes it from there. Lately, he nails it on the first shot.
