Interview with Taleigh

When did you first start writing?
I have written poetry since I was a child but I started writing Empty Spaces my debut novel 3 years ago. It took me a long time to write because it has some fact based events in it that made it difficult to write. As well as writers block is a real and horrible thing.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My debut novel, Empty Spaces, as I said is fictional with fact-based elements. When I set out to write this book it was with the basis that there are more people in this world dealing with the issues that my characters deal with that need to know they are not alone. They need to know they can get past is and live a somewhat "normal life", if there is such a thing as a normal life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love the indie community! I love the support and dedication I saw as a reader. Though it's still not an easy world and has it's bad moments, I've seen the love and support that is lacking in many aspects of the world today.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am just joining Smashwords and I am a brand new author so at the moment there is no success, Except in the fact that I have completed the writing and editing process. I will try to remember to come back and re-answer this question at a later date.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Just as reading does writing takes you to a whole different world. The difference is I get to "be" the characters as they develop and see inside them more than that of a reader.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are everything to me! Especially those that have been around cheering from the sidelines since I started. The ones encouraging me that I had what it took to write, kicking my butt and making me move forward when I was ready to give up when the characters stopped talking. Without the fans I'm just writing for me and that's ok, but it makes it so much more worth while knowing that someone else enjoys the words as much as me.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a new novel entitled Fire and Stone. It will be a realistic type romance with paranormal aspects. I don't have much else about it that i can share currently but it will definitely be a unique experience for me and I hope for you too.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite indie authors are P.J. Belden, Kate Stewart, Kylie Price, K. Bromberg, CC Monroe, and Heather Lyn. I really have so many I can't list them all but those are some of them.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My children and husband give me all the reason I need to keep getting out of bed and striving to be the best I can be and continue reaching for the stars.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my family doing crafts, playing video games, working a normal job (until writing pays all the bills anyway lol), I love to read and will never give that up.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Recommendations from friends, scrolling through amazon or other retailers reading blurbs that catch my attention.
