Interview with Teena Reid

Describe yourself and tell a bit about yourself.
I'm 30 years old, blonde, blue eyes, 5 feet 7 inches, tall. I won Little Miss America and did Beauty pageants until I was 10. I modeled from age 4 until age 24, mostly catalogues and a couple of runway shows. I'm an only child, my mother died in 2010 and my father lives with me now.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing short stories for fun when I was 13, it was a assignment in English class to write about anything. I love writing about medical treatments and information most of all.
Does your family support your writing?
My family supports my writing so much, because they know I'm going to be a neurosurgeon in the future and they want to support that dream, along with publishing something in a medical journal.
Where do you get your ideas?
I mostly get my ideas from new spinal surgery treatments and medical trials. My short stories come from my dreams, I guess kind of like Stephen King.
What are you working on next?
It will continue to be a work in progress for quite awhile. It's research for treatment or a cure for a genetic disorder both my parents inherited, it's called Ankylosing Spondylosis or Ankylosing Spondylitis. I'm hoping one day to not just be in a medical journal, but a clinical trial.
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, Patricia Cornwell, J.K. Rowling, Bella Harte, P.T. Macias, Monique Rockliffe, Samantha C. Ross, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and that's just to name a few.....
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love blogging. I have a book reviews and author interviews blog, a fashion blog (it's used as a contributing blog on Lucky Magazine Online), a horror films site (it has my film reviews, film finder, other horror sites, and forums), and a medical blog. All of these are listed on my bio. I love being with friends and family. I love movies (especially horror, suspense, thriller, paranormal, drama, and even a good comedy now and then). I'm a television addict, I would list my favorites, but there wouldn't be enough time or characters (mostly crime, drama, medical, and some comedy). Listening to my music, as well as playing it (I play drums, flute, and some guitar).
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly authors send me their new works to review for my blog, and sometimes an I get to interview them as well. I'm a member of Goodreads, Amazon/Shelfari, Book Blogs, Bookrix, and I have a group on Facebook I administrate where people post their works, favorite books, and reviews.
