Interview with Allen C. Liles

Why did you write THE 12 PROMISES OF HEAVEN?
I am a 77-year old retired minister. My dear wife of 20+ years is 73 and not in good health. We are both interested in "What's Next?" after we die physically. My wife and I strongly believe in a benevolent God and the concept of an afterlife. In addition, as a minister and hospital chaplain, I have heard questions from many people over the years with the same concerns or even dread. Will they be welcomed into Heaven by God or sent to another less desirable location (I. e. Hell). The most common other question involves whether or not we will be able to connect with loved ones in Heaven. I took these and other questions into meditation and asked for God's insight about Heaven. I believe we each can connect with God through the Christ Spirit that He placed within us. It was this inner voice that provided the depiction of Heaven. This depiction came in the form of 12 specific promises: (1) You experience perfect peace as you enter Heaven; (2) The beauty of Heaven greatly exceeds your expectations; (3) Every new arrival receives God's blessing; (4) You can find your loved ones here; (5) You live in a mansion filled with great treasures; (6) A feeling of good will permeates everything; (7) The power of forgiveness rules Heaven; (8) You are surrounded by love and acceptance; (9) Heaven understands your True Self; (10) You are never abandoned or rejected; (11) You travel everywhere at the speed of light and (12) God remains near and always available. Each of these promises contained additional information and clarification that I included in THE 12 PROMISES OF HEAVEN. Needless to say, the positive glimpse that I received about the nature of Heaven offers a comforting and positive view of the next step on our spiritual journey.

Why did you write FRIENDS OF JESUS?
The year immediately prior to the beginning of Jesus Christ's public ministry was a crucial time in the history of Christianity. People and events were coming together that would change the world forever. I wanted to present a fictional and metaphysical account of what might have happened during that time. My desire was to humanize the Biblical characters while imagining the fateful decisions, religious intrigue, human betrayal, spiritual revelations and even unexpected humor that could have transpired before Jesus the man became Jesus the Christ.
Do the events and people in FRIENDS OF JESUS have a basis in Historical fact?
To some extent they do. The antagonists of Jesus are especially well-documented. Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate, Herod Antipas and his wife Herodias and step-daughter Salome and the Jewish High Priest Caiaphas all would play important roles in the events before the persecution and eventual crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus' legion of friends are also well documented in the Bible: His mother Mary, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter, and the disciple John all constitute key characters in Biblical history. The new factor in the narrative consists of imagined conversations and fictional interactions between the characters.
Why did you write E-Spiritual Rehab/28 Online Days to Healing Your Spirit?
In most all recovery programs, participants are urged to connect with a Higher Power in order to facilitate needed change. Yet for many people, the idea or image of a Higher Power may be either negative or nonexistent. The purpose of E-Spiritual Rehab is to help anyone at any stage of recovery to reconnect with the sacred power that indwells every human being. I wanted to create a gentle sequence of spiritual recovery that reestablishes that bond between our humanity and our the inner power that resides at the core of our being. I used guided meditations, personal stories and imagined divine input to help restore a positive and trusting relationship between the reader and His or Her God of their understanding.
