Interview with W.H. Wesley

Published 2014-07-25.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read auto Biographies. I also enjoy a good horror story ( getting tired of zombies..). or a good mystery.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle fire. I received it as a gift from the wife ( and now I cant put it down).
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
This is my first endeavor--- so I have used Facebook...I did a slide show with a voice over that can be found on youtube--Into the hands of the fallen. I have a web site on Wix.com ( wesnmelj.wix.com).
Describe your desk
lol......Bills and books. Notes on several different note pads. Its an organized mess at the moment.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up In San Antonio - TX but spent the summers in Kentucky. As a young kid I had friends but I spent a lot of time reading comics. It helped forge my imagination but I didn't find my true desire to write until my late teens. I wrote a lot of songs for a band I fronted while I lived in Japan. "Into the hands of the Fallen" is derived from one of those songs.
When did you first start writing?
Again it really started when I lived in Japan. I enjoyed putting pen to paper and trying to lead the audience on an adventure.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It follows a group of men who find themselves on a quest to save their only surviving family members---their boys. An evil force has cast it shadow over the land and it plans to end the threat of the half human half vampire. The Elder must destroy the Dhampir and hold back those in his own fold if he wishes to maintain his grip on his children. It puts man against creature -- but it also puts man against himself. It's the age old question: What would you do to save those that you love -- or better yet what wouldn't you do?
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I was introduced by a friend of a friend. I thought about and did sent off Query letters to more than a few Publishers and after the first few (many) Thank you but.......I decided to move forward. I still want to see my book in paper back form....and I will-- it may just take a little longer.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It has allowed me to get my book to the people. It has opened up an avenue that has allowed myself and countless others to be able to follow their dream. Thank you Smashwords.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think having an avenue to express myself again. It gives me that rush that I have been missing---- the ability to control my own imagination. To put it down on paper and give characters life ----and some times death. Ideas that you keep locked inside --can torment you to say what if? - I don't like to say what if.
What are you working on next?
I am 25% done with part 2. This will be a three part story. I have started on a murder mystery that I have put on hold to finish part 2 of the Gathering series. And I am in the beginning stages of a 3 part comic that I would like to see started in the near future.
Follow and see where "Into the hands of the fallen" leads you---I think you will be pleased.

They were a village at peace, as were those that bordered them. Out on the hunt, stock piling for the upcoming winter was when they struck. The smoke bellowing over the trees drove the men home. They all knew what was waiting for them. All in the village were dead except their boys, they had been taken.
