Interview with Torra D

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is a asset to my writing career. without it I would not know where to begin. Not only did Smashwords guide me threw the book writing process but it gave me the confidence to know and believe in my self to complete my novel. Now i can't stop writing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think the best part about writing is living out fantasy's threw your writings. Even if its not my fantasy, i still feel a little alter ego in my work.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me and if anything, they really inspire me to keep going with my new ideas for a book. My fans are die hard and they are so devoted to true Sci-Fi. I love my fans because they are obsessed with Sci-Fi and Fantasy just as i am. So that makes it easy to relate to them.
What are you working on next?
Im working on a new Sci-Fi novel that is heavily based on the modern theory of Ancient Astronauts . but of course i got to have some kick butt characters in it. So i believe that the fans will love it. Herstory is going to be the next big thing so I feel readers will enjoy it.
Who are your favorite authors?
Because i am a Sci-Fi and Fantasy writer it may seem a little cliche but i have to say, I am definitely a fan of the classics. I'm talking Clark, Verne, and Wells. On a more new list i would say I like Hienlien, Segan, Hubbard, and of course the one and only George Lucas among many others. I have many because I was raised on Sci-Fi novels and my dad was a Trekkie who was also obsessed with Star Wars. Which in the long run built my imagination and tolerance for story telling. without these writers I don't know Who I would be because those men molded me.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Ten more pages closer to the end of my work is what gets me out of bed. Just to know I'm closer to my goal inspires me so much. There is nothing better then completing a novel.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
If the wright up sounds good then Ill give it a try but if it has no spunk to it buy the 3rd chapter, im done!!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
yes I started when I was in High School and im still working on it. Its called Herstory.
What is your writing process?
I try not to put to much pressure on myself. because soon as I feel that I am, i loose everything i was trying to create. And i usually never run out of Sci fi ideas because the subject is so innovative and exciting. my process is go get a soda and think out of the box at all times. My projects are finish when i say they are finish. not the other way around.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I can't remember the first book i ever read but i do remember the first book I really understood in an adult way. which was strange because it is a book for pre teens called the pistachio perscription. the main character was going threw hard times growing up like plucking all her eyebrows away by mistake. but on top of this her parents were divorcing and the main charater was not taking it well. this is not one of the best books i have read but at that age I realized that you can relate to people threw your writings when my friend Sara ran out the class room because the main character was talking about how sad it was that her parents were getting divorced just as Sara's parents were. For some reason the writer connected with somthing in my friend sara and I wanted that power. the power to connect with humans around me.
How do you approach cover design?
I want my cover to pop on the shelf and to pop on the book list on an library app. so i try to get the color to express the story as much as possible.
