Interview with Traci Douglass

What made you become an author?
I’ve always made up stories to entertain myself. It never occurred to me to write them down until I had a dream in November of 2011. That dream became the prompt for the Seven Seals series. The rest is history.
How do you get the ideas for your books?
Other than dreams, I think with enough imagination you can find story ideas anywhere. Waiting in line at the supermarket, stuck in traffic. Anywhere.
What’s your favorite book on the craft of writing?
I love Stephen King’s On Writing, Cathy Yardley’s Rock Your Plot, Debra Dixon’s Goal, Conflict, Motivation, Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird, and Robert McKee's Story.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Same old advice. Read. Read. Read. And Write. Write. Write. It’s been repeated advice for a reason.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, Jennifer Ashley, Stacia Kane, Heather Graham, and Sarah MacLean.
What’s the funniest experience you’ve had so far in your writing career?
I contacted a very sweet lady who happened to win a copy of Seal of Destiny through an online contest to ask her which format of e-book she preferred. She proceeded to tell me all about how excited she was to have won the contest and how she never wins anything. Then she tells me that she’s so thrilled to win my book because her upstairs neighbor is a SEAL and now she can learn all about what he does. LOL!
I hated to burst her bubble, but had to tell her that these weren’t exactly those kinds of SEALs, although there were hot warriors involved.
What are your new releases/projects on the horizon?
I’m going through final edits on on the third book in the Seven Seals Series and will begin writing the fourth book shortly.

Then I’m working on a contemporary romantic comedy that I hope to find a home for soon.

And finally, I’ve got my thesis project I’m working on for my MFA. It’s a paranormal romantic suspense.
Morning person or night owl?
Night owl, definitely.
If you had to be an animal, what would you be?
What’s your comfort snack?
Depends on the mood. Usually chocolate, or maybe something salty, like chips or nuts.
Top three songs on your I-Pod right now?
Feel This Moment – Pitbull
A Little Less Conversation – Elvis Presley
Like Dogs Chasing Cars – From the Dark Knight Rises soundtrack
