Interview with S. Copperstone

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've been writing so long! I've tried repeatedly to go through the traditional channels (finding an agent, finding a traditional publisher), but after all the rejections ("it's not a good fit for us", "try another publisher", "it's a subjective business", etc), I've decided to try the self-publishing thing. Hopefully, it will work out :-)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is that it's kind of like therapy. When I'm stressed out about something, I can write. It's just therapeutic.
What do your fans mean to you?
It's nice to have them!
What are you working on next?
I'm finishing up on the next book related to The High King's Embalmer. I've got other works in progress, too.
Who are your favorite authors?
Probably Chelsea Quinn Yarbro is one of my favorites. I love her vampire series. I like all kinds of genres, so it's really hard to say.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually by wandering around online.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I think it was a story about morals, or a fable. I can't really remember exactly. I think that was in 2nd or 3rd grade. (Yes, it's been a while).
What do you read for pleasure?
Pretty much everything. I like historical fiction and non-fiction; romances (some); fantasies; whatever I'm in the mood for, I guess. I'm big on characters, if I find a connection with the character, I'll continue reading the book.
Describe your desk
A disaster. Can't find anything.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first full length novel at around age fifteen, then put it away, for years. I got back into writing a new novel at around age 24, I think. I've continued off and on since then.
