Interview with Ufuomaee

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love how writing clears my mind of thoughts, and allows me to roam freely and go places I wouldn't dare to go in real life, but then challenges me about it too! I feel like a better person when I write. I teach myself so many things, and I surprise myself too. I also love the escape. When I tell stories, it is like watching a movie I made, and I feel so powerful.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Realising my purpose as a writer and Minister of the Gospel has made waking up each day a delightful adventure. I love writing and I love teaching, and combining both together, as a Christian Blogger, turned Author, I'm on top of the world!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am on social media sharing my posts and connecting with other bloggers. I read a lot more these days. I also do fundraising/promotions for my charity and keep on top of our activities too. I design websites and offer other business solutions, as a side gig, as well. I also love to cuddle with my son and watch PJ Masks!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Reading ebooks is new to me. The ones I have read have been from other bloggers, who promoted their books on their blogs. I will be reading a lot more on Smashwords, now I have joined the family.
Who are your favorite authors?
When I was younger, I read and loved Enid Blyton and Emma Blair. I love Francine Rivers too.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I can't say it's the first I ever read, but it is the first I remember. I can't remember the title nor the author, but it was set in a girl's boarding school, and of course, there was a boy from another school. I loved loved loved school-based and teenage romance. But I don't think I will be writing any of those. But we can never know. It could be exciting :)
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I can't be sure it was the first. There were a few trial and error stories, but I remember the one that I went far in. It was the usual boy meets girl story, based on teenage and school-based crushes. I was a teenager :) But I remember telling fairy tale Princess stories to my sister, when we were much younger. She loved them so much that when we fought, to punish her, I would tell her I won't tell her any more stories, and she would cry and beg my forgiveness!!! LOL!
What is your writing process?
A quiet place where my mind is free and I can escape. I clear my mind and imagine and start to write what I feel and hear in this new place I have created. And the rest just happens. Oh, I pray too! I pray for God to bring inspiration and lead me as I write, and He always does :) I also do lots of editing. If I'm not publishing right away, I plan what happens, but it usually scatters, when my characters break into their shoes!
What are you working on next?
Lots and lots!!! I've already got four books in the pipeline to be turned to ebooks. Two of them will be free! I am also working on a Seasonal Series on my blog, blog.ufuomaee.org, which is a continuation of all my stories. "A Small World" is a big inspired project, that will allow my readers to continue to be blessed by the lives of my characters, as they learn love. Besides that, I am still writing lots of amazing articles on my blog, which are just begging for a compilation... So, I've got lots on the table, and just trying to take this one step at a time
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are like friends and soulmates I may never meet. The fact that they connected with what I wrote and willingly entered my world, and not only stayed, but enjoyed it...and the fact that they go about telling others how wonderful an experience it was is so so amazing to me. My fans make me feel successful, because I write to be read, and they read. I write to be understood, and they listen and understand. I write to entertain and bless, and they are not only entertained and blessed, they invite others to join in, and keep the vision going. Fans are wonderful people to me!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords taught me how to format and publish my ebook myself, and now I know how to do this, and will soon be publishing many more ebooks! Being on Smashwords is great exposure, and they offer many benefits to authors and readers, which bridges the gap between interest and making a decision to buy. The free sampling they permit is one such thing, and it has no doubt contributed to my success as a self-published author.
