Interview with Aquarius UnknownEcdysiast

Published 2019-07-28.
What do you read for pleasure?
I appreciate non fiction literature that teaches me skills such as how to market an ebook. Self awareness literature invigorates me. Learning strategies that address challenges of living in our complex world regarding politics, climate change, and interpersonal relationships interests me.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Hopefully, creating a You tube video of excerpts from Bumps and Grinds will engage readers!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's in the mid western United States. From my mother I was exposed to an environment of sexual inhibitions. Women of that era were exposed to sexist views about women's choices in careers, relationships, and rights. As I took on the challenge of living my dream... exploring erotic dance, I had to learn To make my own choices. Hearing the stories of patrons in striptease clubs allowed me to develop a non-judgmental appreciation for others while establishing healthy boundaries for myself. I feel fortunate I did not have the disease of alcoholism in my DNA; therefore did not fall prey to addiction issues. But I did drink too much alcohol and it impacted my judgment. Due to the fact that I worked in an industry which did not value the safety of entertainers... I am grateful to be alive!
When did you first start writing?
First grade. But I could write my name before that. :) I realized that I have had unique experiences others might enjoy reading about and began writing in 1995, after returning to college. Honestly, without burlesque I probably would not have been able to afford a college education.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I like the idea that my life experiences put in print will remain in my control.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
This is my first e-book to be published I will see. I would like to have a toll free phone number to consult with "those in the know."
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing I have an idea or experience that may resonate with someone and impact their life gives me pleasure.
What are you working on next?
Volume II of Bumps and Grinds
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I will be contributing to another person in a way that is inspiring and meaningful.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I work forty hours a week and take buses to and from work which allows time to write. I am looking forward to retirement when I can spend more of my time writing and working to accomplish the changes I envision. Sometimes I mow my lawn.
What is your writing process?
When I encounter a problem, solution, or an inspiring experience, I write the idea in a notebook for contemplation.
