Interview with Virginia E Cuff

Describe your desk
My desk is filled with ideas. So, there is not an empty space on it!
When did you first start writing?
I have been writing since I can remember. One of my favorite things to do was to take a color, research that color and then write short stories and/or poetry about that color.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Virginia where everybody knew your mother. My English teachers either went to school or church with my mother or they were involved in my mother's life to some degree. Each of them did not hesitate reminding me that they knew my mom and so I did my earnest to pay attention in class and to get my writing right.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book was not intended to be a book. Actually, I was just writing down thoughts as I dealt with the intense pain of losing my mom. She was my shero and I adored her. When she passed away from pancreatic cancer four days after her diagnosis, after having been given six months to a year to live, I thought that my world would fall apart. I prayed to God. I questioned God. I prayed some more. I read the scriptures and while I was being comforted, I was led to write.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am new to Smashwords and I am believing that this venue will allow for more people to have access to my writings while being encouraged in their journey.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing something that can encourage or benefit others to live wholesome lives that bring glory to God and provokes others to righteousness is joy unspeakable for me.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't see myself as having any fans but if there are any, it means that my life has to continue to be hid in Christ so that I do not cause them to stumble in any manner.
What are you working on next?
Presently I am working on a workbook companion for this book. I am hopeful that there will be women's group studies to encourage sisters not to yield to pity. I am also working on another book that examines the lives of biblical women in a practical way.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I am just thankful to God to be alive and that alone inspires me. After all, I am a heart patient survivor!!! I also am blessed to have a tremendous husband that I enjoying waking up to each morning.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend time enjoying my Hubby while laughing, traveling, golfing, and watching old westerns. I also love quiet time and so I spend a considerable amount of time praying, reflecting, and studying the Word of God to help me on my journey as I live for Christ and sow into the lives of women, children, and families.
