Interview with Lynne Farley

What inspired you to write your book?
I wrote Torn Between Two Worlds (A Mother's Love) because I felt in my heart that I needed to help other abused victims and their children. Even though it was very had for me to go back to a time that I've tried very hard to forget, I hope victims will realize the impact abuse is making on their life and their future.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy cooking but mostly I love to spend time with my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Life is so precious!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing Torn Between Two Worlds (A Mother's Love) will be knowing I was able to save one victim of abuse.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me! If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be the person I am today!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was in Grade 12 English. We had to write about the future and something that would be invented to make our lives easier. This was probably 40 years ago and I wrote how we would use plastic cards instead of cash when making purchases. I guess I should have acted on my theory because it happened!
What is your writing process?
I need total quiet time for writing and then I jot things down in point form before putting it together.
If you could have one wish for your book, what would that be?
I would wish that my book was made available to other abused victims, their families and the many wonderful people that work to also help victims become survivors! Torn Between Two Worlds (A Mother's Love) tells all, so I hope it will bring an understanding to help victims get out of their situation before it's too late!
How do you approach cover design?
I had a idea that I wanted for my cover design and I approached a graphic designer who was able to grasp my vision his first try.
Have you read other books with regards to Abuse?
No I have not! It was hard enough for me to go back to my own experiences because it brought back the nightmares. Most victims won't talk about living in an abusive relationship once they're free because they don't want to remember the horror.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Presently I have been marketing my book through Shelters and Libraries because I know that is where my book is needed the most. However, statistics show that one in four women are being abused so I plan to broaden my horizons in the near future.
