I don't really write at a desk. Whenever I have inspiration to write I write, I just get my Laptop and sit down somewhere and start to write. Some places where I usually sit are our wonderfull bordeaux couch, which I really like, or I sit on my cosy bed. I have a desk where I sit sometimes (not a lot), which is full of pictures (from family and friends) and sometimes I just love to write on my wall behind my desk. I get a lot inspiration from that. So it's kinda weird I don't write there... Maybe something to think about for the future.
When did you first start writing?
I've been writing ever since I was a little kid. I can't remember when I started but I've always liked to write. Unlike some other kids. That's a weird thing from me ever since I was little I know what I wanted to do with my life: become a musical artist and writer. I love music and also to write. They are both two amazing ways to express how you feel. I also really love to read, I love it that a story can make you forget who you are and for that moment you're another person. I hope other people will feel the same when they read my stories.
What's the story behind your books?
The most stories that I write are romantic stories. I love to tell the story about two people who are in love or are falling in love. It's so cool to see the process of two people. I really love that. All my life I've been writing and always it was about love and finding your true self.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love that when you write you can tell a story from the you inside that nobody sees. The you where you dream of, you know. I like to know that people like my stories, and like that person inside of me. When you write you can do anything, you have total freedom to write whatever you want. That makes me really happy.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything!! Without them I would be just a random writer. I don't have much fans (yet). But I hope there will become more and more. It's so cool to know people love what you do.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a romantic story that I hope to be publishing soon. I can't tell much, but I have some great idea's.
Who are your favorite authors?
I really like John Green (the fault in our stars changed my life completely! That story is so filled with beautiful sentences. I really teared up reading it! It was breathtaking.) His other stories are pretty awesome, too. I really like him. He's for sure my favorite author. But I also like different authors, too much to name here.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I don't know. I mostly need to get up. But in weekends I like to sleep till noon. Cause I really stay up late. I have more inspiration when I can see the stars. But what inspires me the most is to know that there's a day coming up where you can do anything that you want!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I really like making music. I like to sing, write songs, play the piano and guitar and you know just doing stuff a lot people do. Hang out with family and friends, listening to music etc.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
When I was like 7 or something I wrote my first story. It was about a princess who had found a mysterious island and she needed to find her prince; you see even then I like to put a little romance in my stories. It was a pretty weird story and quiet funny.
What is your writing process?
I don't know. I don't really have one. Most of the time I get the idea of a story and I just start to write. After the first chapter (or sometimes before it) I make the short info about the story. That's what I do. A habit of me is to search some lyrics of songs and start my story based on the song: like the title etc.
What is your favorite book, and why?
I really really love the fault in our stars by John Green. He's like my hero. How he writes emotions is just so realistic but it still takes you to another world. Some third universe. And I also really like the dark humour in it. The sarcastic touch is also something I admire!!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I live in Belgium (a petite country in Europe which has amazingly delicious chocolate!), In a small neighbourhood, I have some pretty cool memories. It has definitely influenced my writing in a postive way. Without those memories I wouldn't be who I am today.
