Interview with Wesley W Craig

Published 2014-12-03.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
For where I grew up and significant events during that period see my first ebook, Remembering Childhoods in Valley County, where my personal account is provided. First significant introduction to the world and what was going on happened while in the U.S. Coast Guard when I would "borrow" Time Magazine, Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report from the off-limits officers library and read them from cover to cover, comparing different ways of writing on the same or similar topics.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Making it possible to quickly assemble previously acquired information with a minimum of publishing hurdles.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Desire to extend to a broader audience the interesting stories discovered while doing research.
What are writing on next?
Twelve years ago (2002) I collaborated with a group in writing a history book about the county in which I was born and raised the first 14 years of my life (Valley County, Idaho). This history (Valley County, Idaho: Prehistory to 1920) has been out of print for some time. I have been authorized by the copyright holders (Valley County History Project) to get it republished, this time as an E-book. Hope to have this accomplished during the next month.

Following that, I plan on writing a series of books coming out of my life experiences as a psychotherapist, spy (for the U.S. government), Latin American area specialist (Andean region), and educational innovator. Some of this is quite controversial (multiple personalities, homosexuality, evil spirits). I believe I have something of value to add to these and other topics. Want to get them written before my sojourn on this sphere ends. E-books provides a means of accomplishing these goals.
What led you to writing this book?
As a psychotherapist, utilizing hypnotic modalities, I often screened clients regarding early traumatic experiences which might have given rise to their presenting symptoms. During the course of this work I began to discover a strong correlation between early childhood sexual abuse and later sexual and gender issues. While this phenomena has been encountered by many other therapists, information regarding these findings does not appear to have entered into the ongoing discussion regarding origins of homosexuality. This book is an attempt to help remedy that deficiency.
