What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm just beginning my marketing effort, but I've hired several professionals who are putting together an impressive marketing campaign.
Describe your desk
My desk is a large comfortable stuffed chair with wooden TV trays.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in East Tennessee where I became an avid reader at a very early age.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote a plays about 15 years ago, however, I began writing my Western series, Evil Stryker about 10 years ago.
What's the story behind your latest book?
"It Was To Die For" is about the water wars between Los Angeles and Owens Valley California.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The freedom of the independent publishing platform.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
The abundance of marketing support and networking possibilities.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing what I like to read.
What do your fans mean to you?
The satisfaction of having them like my writing.
What are you working on next?
The 4th book of The Evil Stryker series, "It Was to Die For."
Who are your favorite authors?
Ayn Rand, George Gilman, Ernest Hemingway, Somerset Maugham, J.D.Salinger.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have a rewarding and exciting job, and I like to write my stories at the end of the weekdays, or in the mornings on the weekends.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working my day job, running, and reading.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
On Amazon.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a Christmas story for my children.
What is your writing process?
I usually write at least an hour six days a week.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was a Golden Books story about Bugs Bunny out West with Indians. I was about 4 years old and I decided I liked the West and wanted to live in it.
How do you approach cover design?
I rely on my cover designer.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Atlas Shrugged, the Edge Series, Death in the Afternoon, Nine Short Stories, Conan the Barbarian, and my own Evil Stryker Series.

They contain the elements of rugged individualism, masculinity, and underlying intellectual themes.
What do you read for pleasure?
Well written fiction that does not have socialist insinuations.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Published 2018-08-01.
