Interview with C.A. Jarest

Published 2017-09-12.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me would be that I get to escape to a different world for a little while. The best thing about this is, it is a world I have created and can change when ever I like. I can go where ever I like and be a different person for a little bit.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean the world to me. Without my fans, I am nothing. I want to share with them the worlds I have created, I want to be the one who sweeps them off their feet into a whole different world. I want to make sure I am pleasing them, helping them to escape into a different world. Fans are everything, they will either help you up to the top or not.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a project that I hope will be on TV as a series someday soon.
Who are your favorite authors?
Oh man, I have so many. J.K Rowling, E. E. Knight, David Eddings, Steven King, just to name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
That is easy, my daughter inspires me. Everything I do is for her. I try to better myself for her, each and every day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
If I am not writing I am either spending time with my daughter or thinking of other things to write about. I love spending time with my husband and my daughter, they put a smile on my face.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I like to read reviews of the works before reading it myself. I also ask people I work with what they have been reading recently and what they would recommend.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes I do, I actually rewrote it several times. I self published the story in 2007 and then after rewriting it I republished the book in 2012. I still have the book on my hard drive and I am currently working on a sequel.
What is your writing process?
I have to let my mind wonder first before I can do any sort of serious writing. I like to sit in a quiet place, either outside on a nice day or inside in my office. I free write for a little bit before starting my writing.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone. That's the first time I read a book and wanted to know more, read more, and create worlds of my own.
How do you approach cover design?
Sounds silly but, I cannot draw and do not have the means to create a cover on my own. I usually ask a friend or family member to help me.
