Raymond Chandler and every one who uses hardly any adjectives.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My wife; my happy life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
My second favorite hobby after writing is long distance swimming. I swim as often as I can. Preferably in the sea.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Solely by checking the “related link” of books I have read and liked.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first thing I ever wrote was a poem (in German).
What is your writing process?
It goes like this: inventing a vague storyline; writing it down not giving a damn about typos or adjectives; dividing the story clearly into beginning, middle and end; writing the story beautifully, mostly reducing the words by 30-40%.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Take any book from Raymond Chandler because I like his style.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
It’s a kindle paperwhite.
Describe your desk
My desk is made of Danish oak (39x28), so it’s pretty heavy. It has only one drawer. On it are my macbook air, my ipad, my video cam on a tripad, two small loudspeaker boxes and a cartoon picture of Ronald Reagan with Helmut Kohl sitting on his lap, clad like a child in a marine uniform, in his hand a small American flag.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in East Germany and I hated it. I don't think it influenced my writing.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have stories to tell. I think I do it well, and I love writing.
