Interview with shaya s

Published 2014-01-24.
When did you first start writing?
I was always writing but I started taking it seriously when I was in Grade 4. I had just read a book called,"So you wanna be a writer?" It inspired me to start writing more and inspire the world. I loved to write from then on. Now I write articles, stories and essays. I even have my own blog and the surprising part is that I am in grade 6. This year, 2014 I decided to write a book or an e-book. Hope I inspire you!
What does writing mean to you?
Writing means a lot to me. Writing is my soul and heart. It's what keeps me going when I am sad or mad or even happy. I love to write and I want to inspire the world through writing. Writing is for anybody and everybody needs it in their life. Writing impacts your life a lot. What you read could persuade you to change your mind about something, it could get you in trouble, or even make you laugh. Writing is special, it’s like magic. It can spread happiness to people around you pretty quickly. Have you ever had this time when someone reads your work and then have this tingly smile on their face? That’s how happiness feels like.
Who are your favourite authors?
My favourite authors are Wendy Mass and Jerry Spinelli. Jerry Spinelli taught me that it's okay to be different and stand out. We're all one of a kind....he also taught me that we have to let go. I love Jerry Spinelli's books StarGirl and Jake and Lily. I also love Wendy Mass. She changes my view about what the world is like and what a small place the world is and how the universe is full of mysteries and secrets. I love her books The CandyMakers, Willow Falls Series, Pi in the Sky and Every Soul a Star. THEY ARE AMAZING
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my time probably practicing my instruments, my homework at school, dancing, or on my electronics. You would probably see me doing that other than eating, sleeping and going to school/classes.
