Interview with A. E Gonzalez

What inspires you to write?
My inspiration of writing comes from various things. Sometimes inspiration comes to me when I am in the backseat of the car with my earphones plugged in and I'm staring out the window, listening closely to the lyrics. Many times my inspiration comes at a time when I'm in my own thoughts. I just begin picturing these characters and wonder what their story is about.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing books when I was in the fifth grade. I had hated books before then...that was until I watched the TWILIGHT movie and decided to read the books. After I finished the series I imagined my own story and began writing it down on paper.
What's the story behind your latest book?
BETRAYAL came to me at a moment when I was thinking of writing the sequel of my first novel. The story rose right after I had read 'TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES' and I asked myself "What would've happened if Tess had loved Alec?" that was the question that started it all.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Books by Stephenie Meyer, Lauren Kate and E. L James I wanted to write a story that made other people feel what my characters were feeling and help readers drift off into this whole other place. I fell in love with those feelings after reading THE TWILIGHT SAGA, THE FALLEN SERIES and THE FIFTY SHADES OF GREY TRILOGY.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The intense feelings I get when I'm writing a powerful scene in my books. I find so much fun in those.
Who are your favorite authors?
E. L James author of The Fifty Shades Trilogy, Lauren Kate author of The Fallen Series, Abbi Glines author of The Fallen Too Far Trilogy, Colleen Hoover author of The Slammed Series and Hopless, Jamie McGuire author of Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster, Stephenie Meyer author of The Twilight Saga, and Nicole Williams author of The Crash Trilogy.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading. Or doing homework. But mostly I spend my time reading books.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I visit the ibooks store more often then not. I'm literally there everyday just going through romance books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was actually my first novel. I wrote it in the seventh grade and its still taking up space on my computer. I really want to revisit those characters soon.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is most of the time the same, I lay in my bed with a soda or starbucks or apple juice and put on my Dre Beats and begin to type what pops up in my head.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
TWILIGHT! That book impacted my life a lot. Stephenie Meyer's story actually made me want to become an author. I wanted to impact people with my story the way her story impacted me. The feeling was pretty awesome.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Fifty Shades Of Grey,Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Freed, Beautiful Disaster, and Bared to you. Why? Because I love those romance novels that consumes you and that makes you feel everything the protagonist feels. The beauty of all these books are that they are written in the first person and I very much enjoy those POV because they just give you more inside detail of what this character is feeling and why she or he is feeling this way. Also because you just feel like the main character in the book.
What do you read for pleasure?
The Fifty Shades Trilogy and other romance novels
Are all your books going to be for the YA audience?
am going to answer this with a definite no. I have written the first installment of a new YA novel that will be released soon for readers 14 and up. Mostly I will be writing a NA novels which will also be available soon (Once some are written.) I have a new paranormal Romance Novel in the process and I intend to target the MATURE YA/NA audience, I guess this would be considered 16 and up.
What are you working on next?
I'm actually undecided on what books to proceed. I've started a few books but I'm really almost finished with a new NA erotic romance. It should be fun.
